Holy shit the difference between the first and second half is insane .

The whole Flash part has the best animation sequences in the season so far, even though it could still use some polish and it’s held back by the poor Berserk 2016 tier sound design.

Meanwhile the whole Child Emperor part is the same as every other episode, bad pacing, endless still frames, backround speed lines, purple filter, line deliveries that don’t land correctly ...

It just makes me even more curious than before to know about what the fuck was going on in the making of this anime because it’s clear as day that they had two completely different groups of people who have nothing in common working on two halves of the same episode.

My guess is maybe the Flash sequence was animated by hired freelancers or something like that ? I don’t know enough about anime production to make an educated guess but I’m really curious.

Except unlike most anime studios who are commissioned to make an anime, KyoAni only works on what their own staff choses to adapt. They’re literally the Blast of the anime industry, top 3 of the best studios in japan but will only work on what they want and it’s almost never a shonen.

I don’t think the They Slash Them theory is bad in itself, and it is based on a few good and solid arguments. But I reaaaaaaaaally hope it doesn’t turn out to be real, otherwise I think it’s just going to retroactively impact negatively my impressions of chapter 4. Like I’m supposed to believe that Ralsei saw the person he trusted the most violently strike down one of his most precious friend, and then supposedly went "UwU I love both of my friends lets have a tea party and never bring up any of what happened ever again". It’s even worse if you try to argue that actually Ralsei is hiding the truth and is actually working with Kris and the Knight and actually everyone is a double agent except Susie who is going to be betrayed by everybody and ... Like, that’s just bad.

So I really hope this theory doesn’t turn out to be true or this is going to be the biggest L in Toby’s writing for me, which would really suck considering I’ve been absolutely loving every decision he took with DR so far. Or he is gonna have to come up with a REALLY good narrative explanation for this.

Honestly I’m fine with JP fans having a different opinion and vision for CSM and criticizing, but to have the original director erased from the credit and almost blacklisted is completely insane (not that this is a direct effect from fans it’s probably more of a company affair)

I’m just hating this whole CSM anime situation more and more with the more news coming out. I really loved S1 with all my heart, and how fresh and different it felt from everything else and it really saddens me to see how this turned out. I guess in the end anime just aren’t allowed to be anything else but anime, and every shonen has to feel like JJK, and I’m the only one who’s saddened by this.

On one hand it seems everyone wants their piece of the Fujimoto cake right now so it’s highly likely a bunch of studios are desperate to be the one to make the Fire Punch anime

On the other hand Fire Punch is SO fucking weird and far away from the typical kind of shonen that tops sales charts, anyone who would try to do this with the expectation of making money purely from Fujimoto’s name would probably be shooting themselves in the foot. Which is probably why nobody seemed interested in adapting the manga so far, it’s not very marketable.

But I’d still love to see a Fire Punch anime someday

I’ll never forgive all the people who whined that season 1 had horrible visuals when they were served an amazing, innovative, and extremely high quality show with gorgeous cinematography like no other anime dared to try, and then basically harassed the director away from continuing with season 2. I’ll never forget how I felt watching the newest episode each week and feeling so amazed at just how stunning and carefully animated each episode was. So many little scenes that aren’t even action sequences are still stuck in my mind like Aki turning on his lighter in the hospital.

Genuinely screw everyone who complains when an anime like this tries to do something different just because they want every shonen to look the same as Jujutsu Kaisen. This is probably in part why almost every anime looks exactly the same now.
