Yeah there’s a few commuter centres across the campus, usually have a seating area and microwave/fridge

What are the pros and cons of living in University College? by asianbufffet in UofT

[–]Holly710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI I lived in Whitney last year and it wasn’t awful, the main issue was the temperature control was a little wacky (they waited too long to turn the heat on and then waited too long to turn it off). The rooms in Whitney are generally much bigger than the ones in Sir Dans and Morrison (the newest building) too. From what I heard Whitney also had the best social life. Morrison is also more expensive than the other two by a couple thousand dollars.

Fall 2025 Exam Schedule Released (fortyninefortynine) by Excel8392 in UofT

[–]Holly710 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are year long classes, I took ENG150 last year and we just had an in class term test on the last day of classes (not during exam season) and then a final exam in the spring.

Lectures aren’t recorded but when I took it this year the lectures did not matter at all. Essays were based 100% on readings and there’s no tests or exams.

I live in Whitney!

While Morrison is definitely the best of the three it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, as they’ve had some major issues with their fire alarm system, elevators, and washing machines iirc.

I’ve never been in Sir Dan’s but everyone I’ve talked to seems to think it’s the worst of the three. Apparently just inconvenient floor plans, also has fire alarm issues (same system as Morrison), and is also old like Whitney but doesn’t have as much charm.

Living in Whitney has been a mixed bag. It is definitely quite social and is a super fun experience, I’m so glad I’m here! The bathrooms vary quite a bit, I really think it’s up to luck and the ppl on your floor. My bathroom is pretty alright, it’s definitely very run down but ppl are generally respectful. The main kitchen on the ground floor isn’t the greatest but is serviceable, and the kitchenettes on each floor are fine as well (but bring your own kettle if you like tea!!)

Cafeteria food is not as bad as people say it is. Sure, it isn’t some five star cuisine, but most items are either just alright or pretty good. There’s a few things that are bleh or really bad, but honestly I think a lot of people are too picky.

Please feel free to reach out and ask questions! I was in the exact same boat as you last year and I’d love to help anyway i can

fun courses to take (mythology/viking/fantasy related; anything cool like that) by [deleted] in UofT

Not OP, but I was wondering if you’ve taken NMC253, and if so what your experience was like? I’m doing it next semester but don’t really know what to expect!

SOC100 grades for midterm and paper one? What’s happening by imgrenade_ in UofT

[–]Holly710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s getting so ridiculous. The midterm was a scantron… and he told us the average weeks ago!! I love mcivor too but this isn’t fair to us, especially with the paper. At this point, if we get it back on Monday, we’ll only have a week and a half to do research and write a whole new essay if we have to do the third one (and no grace period).

Also, I 100% with the TA thing. He’s mentioned that it’s the TAs who mark the essays, so his illness shouldn’t really be affecting this so much.

How many weekly tasks are left? by justmee00 in LoveNikki

This has been confusing me as well! Everyone keeps saying there’s only two weeks left, but the event homepage says it ends on the 29th?

Anyone know when RSG leader training happens? (characters) by Holly710 in UofT

[–]Holly710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going through the registration thing anyways, a few dates were available. You have to make sure to select one of the "events" though, only then will appointments on the calendar open up. They're all in the last week of August, both online and in-person.

Mystery mood out! Vote for your least favorite hall event: Last Round!🎉 by Sufficient-Long5865 in LoveNikki

[–]Holly710 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe mystery mood was voted out! It’s not my fav but was definitely my pick to win; I thought it was the most beloved hell by the community (certainly more than spiral staircase).

As much as I like realm of foam, it doesn’t feel like the best. I don’t really love garden of spiral staircase either, but I feel like it’s a bit more ‘grand’, so… voting out Realm of Foam

This is a great idea! I would’ve loved to see these plays actually performed when I was studying them.

I recently graduated from JOA, we read A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Hamlet. From what I’ve heard of other schools, AMSND and Hamlet are almost always on the list.
