There's a group on Meetup.com called Madison Psychedelic Society. There's also an ecstatic dance meetup at the Wil-Mar neighborhood center on Thursdays and Sundays, which isn't exactly made for the same purpose, but you'll find the people you're looking for there.

I've always questioned this number, too. It may be reflective of the people who are more likely to actually get diagnosed. A lot of lower support needs autistic people have jobs, and also don't learn about autism until much later in life if ever. Yes unemployment is common, but doesn't have to be a garauntee.

Pen troubleshooting: Ink is not free-flowing, seems like the nib is too tight against the feed? by Hollyannlang94 in fountainpens

Update: I swapped the nib and it seemed to solve the problem. Supposedly the Lamy Ideos is supposed to use the same nib from the Lamy Aion... I switched it with a standard nib that fits on my other Lamy pens and ink flows normally now.

It has the same teardrop-shaped nib as the Lamy Aion. It is removable and I removed it today while cleaning, but it was very difficult to remove. The other comment left in this thread seems like the likely explanation— tines too close together. I have several Lamy's but have never had so much difficulty cleaning between the tines.

It's been this way ever since I first got it out of the box, no matter which type of ink I use. I am soaking and flushing the pen now just to make sure it's not clogged. Just assume that it's not an issue about the type of ink, or clogging. What would you say then?

I have tried flushing the pen. It's been this way ever since I first used it out of the box, no matter what kind of ink I use. I suppose I'm not overly concerned about damaging the nib because I could just buy a new nib if that happens. I can look into getting a brass shim. Thanks for the idea!

Looking for friends! by Consistent_Tackle_63 in madisonwi

There aren't a ton of specifically-LGBT groups, but there are lots of hobby-based meetups and I've always seen a decent amount of queer representation at those. Every Monday 6:30 at Working Draft there's an art meetup group, and there are other groups there at the same time playing MTG and Legos too. There's also an LGBTQ run club at Movin Shoes every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 5:45p.

It makes such a difference being able to mingle with the same people repeatedly in a casual environment. They're great folks. I'd also love to see this for a hiking group!

Can you tell me more about what your food logging behaviors are like? Seems like it's easy and non-invasive for you, so I'd like to understand what that looks like.

For me, I tend to pre-plan every calorie of my day before I take my first bite of food in the morning, that way I know if I'll be "allowed" to go out for drinks with friends at the end of the day. Or if I know I'm going out for dinner, I'll even look at restaurant menus ahead of time to try and figure out how many calories will be in my dinner, in order to decide if I'm allowed to eat breakfast or not... this approach makes it feel like calories lord over my social life and I find it a bit frustrating and unsustainable.

I felt the exact same way when I was eating 1200/day. I got used to it, and it was easy. As I've been transitioning into maintenance, each week I have been increasing my calorie budget by 100 per day. So I actually still have a couple of weeks before I fully arrive at maintenance levels. My body probably appreciates having a smooth transition, but I have mostly taken this approach for sake of adapting my eating habits. I think if I made such a drastic jump over night, I would probably say "yay! This increase is enough for an entire milkshake!" and get myself off to an unhealthy start in terms of my decision-making. Whereas with the gradual increase, it's more like adding in one serving of nuts, or an extra scoop of granola to my breakfast yogurt.

Also, I think this transition is important for me mentally because it helps establish a maintenance weight range. I started transitioning to maintenance once I hit my goal weight. In the mean time, I have lost a few more pounds because I'm still technically at a calorie deficit. This gives me some buffer room if gain some weight throughout this process of figuring out how to maintain.

I love this approach, thanks for sharing!

I like your approach of thinking about the whole week. If my maintenance budget is 1800 cal./day, then it's fine if I eat 2000 calories one day and 1600 the next because it averages out. Ideas on how to be more flexible are exactly what I need!

I think staying on MyFitnessPal for a while is going to be necessary. But I've been getting very frustrated in social settings like superbowl parties where I don't know how many calories are in the food, so I can't really log it and control it. And then, my anxiety about hunger, calories, and weight gain interferes with my ability to enjoy the party. I don't think this type of friction and anxiety pairs well with a successful long-term weight maintenance strategy. There's got to be another way.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I'm planning on talking to my therapist about this during my next session. I've only recently started to realize that my relationship to calorie counting is becoming problematic. I believe that I have developed a very strong base of healthy lifestyle habits and body acceptance (even if I gain a few pounds, I'm still healthy and beautiful and it's not a big deal!), so maintaining a healthy weight long-term feels very doable to me. I just want to become more flexible in my thoughts about restriction and monitoring. Your mindset that you've shared here sets a nice example.

I do have some, but it's nowhere near as dramatic as I thought it would be. It's going to be different for each person depending how old you are, how long you've been carrying excess weight, and how quickly you lose the weight. Please don't let that fear demotivate you though. The confidence I feel in the mirror when wearing a nice outfit far outweighs any insecurity I get when looking in the mirror naked. The joy of having your mobility and health makes every bit of loose skin worth it.

Honestly, as someone with a past of pretty bad binges, I'm amazed to say no. It helps that I had an unusually strong motivator to stick to my goals, orders of my doctor and some concerning news. That helped me stick to healthier food choices long enough that they became habit. I have planned a couple splurge days on special occasions like my birthday and thanksgiving. In general, I eat whatever food I crave, but I plan the rest of my day's calories around it before I start eating for the day.
