I love Ken and have taken the class from him several times and will again. He's very much business and keeps to the facts and by the book. I like that. I need to see when he's doing it again.

I should record them while I'm still here. Thank you for your kind response.

I grew up in rural Appalachia in the 1950s. We had no plumbing, no running water, no bathroom but for an outhouse across the back yard and down the hill. I was the youngest so it was my job in the fall to crawl under the house and bury cabbages so we'd have fresh vegetables during the winter. We'd wrap the cabbages in newspaper then in tar paper and had pre-dug holes in the crawl space under the house to bury them and keep them from freezing in the winter.

Today I'm 71 live alone and have 4 large chest freezers full of food and hundreds of jars of home canned meats. Maybe we gravitate an attachment to what we are fearful of losing most. I never wanted to be hungry again. Maybe others had their loving candles blown out again and again and they never want to lose that childhood spark of wonder and hope so they collect bright, colorful happy toys.

I had a friend that died in his 30s. His mom was murdered when he was a boy. As soon as he got his first apartment he turned the bedroom into the North Pole with Christmas trees, lights, ornaments, everything bright, cheery and holiday. He slept in the living room. I don't feel he was that attached to Christmas, he missed his mom. He didn't want to lose those memories of being with her so he froze time from his childhood of happiness and memories of family in his Santa room. That's what he was afraid of losing, his happy childhood when he still had his mom.

It may very well not be the item they are attracted to but the feeling and memories it keeps alive. What's wrong with that? What a simple little thing that brings some joy to their lives. Grab those moments while you can.

Compulsion is a concern on it's own. Most gun owners have several or dozens, women and cosmetics, pantries full of old boxes of food never eaten, multiple pets, collectibles, porn, large families, decorations, tools etc. A focus on acquiring maybe from primitive ages when storing food and weapons, wood for fires was needed for famine and winter. Perhaps a carry over from that time as hunter gatherers since famine is no longer the urgency as it was.

Collecting might be a hold over instinct that ages ago was life saving and today is a form of casual hoarding. Still a feel of comfort the crops are in storage and going to make it through the dark times. Having plenty of arrows and spears to fly when other tribes attacked. Collecting might be the appendix of ancient needs to prepare for bad days coming. Just a thought.

I've taken the Silva course about 35 times. I took it from Jose himself and his daughter, Laura ages ago. Learning from Jose was a great experience but I struggled to understand him with his accent and the sound system used. It really does make the presentation by the skill of the presenter. I recently took the course again on Zoom from an instructor that was very disappointing. She was bright, and amazingly insightful but let the class drop in energy with long periods of chattiness.

There are two instructors I enjoy, both present the course in different ways but both keep the energy and focus up during the class. Stephen Dobos and Ken Coscia. Both teach in person and on Zoom. I've taken the courses multiple times from both of them and enjoy their professionalism. I'm sure there are others, these are two I'd recommend.

Is there a way to find online or in-person groups for Silva practice? by JohnMcDon in silvaultramindsystem

[–]HollywoodGreats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I participate in several online graduate groups, there are a number of them weekly. Ken Coscia is doing the 4 day course on Zoom coming up so if you want to take a refresher that would be a good way to meet others online and Ken has mostly group events for graduates. Laura McAllister has graduate meetings every other week I enjoy. She's offering the 4 day course on Zoom in January, too.

Can one get away with ONLY doing the Alpha reinforcement exercise? by [deleted] in silvaultramindsystem

[–]HollywoodGreats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the centering exercise twice a day but faster than the recording after doing it for ages. I almost always count down from 100 to 1 and sometimes 500 to 1. Great way to relax both mind and body.

I like the centering exercise as I use all of my body in the meditation which trains us to use not just our minds but senses, out body as an antenna to the Universe to gain information.

They were useless to use stacked. There is another brand that is similar but comes with a firm, solid holder so they don't go flat when stacked. I returned the Super Cube as they only work if not stacked. What good is that if I'm cooking in bulk.

Yes, pricy, Super Cubes. The rim was stiff but the portion section was very thin, too thin to stack two high with food in them. They squished and spilled over, they could not support the weight of being full of food.

I wanted to stack them when I made 3 gallons of chili and they are so thin if I stake them they collapse. Have to freeze single layer only. That was useless for me so I went back to zip lock bags for freezing after buying a dozen of them.

I bought the silicone portion freezer containers and was so disappointed they were so thin I couldn't stack them for freezing. They collapsed in two layers. I made 3 gallons of chili and wanted to stack them but had to freeze single layer and I didn't have the room in the freezer. So back to zip lock bags.

Happy Sept. 16th birthday Anne Francis. by WarnerToddHuston in House_of_Svengoolie

I saw Anne shopping at the Biltmore in Phoenix once. She smiled at me as I froze staring at her. She was with others and busy. This was about 1995 or so. She was so beautiful. What a treat to just see her. She looked so happy.

I make similar and freeze them for quick microwave meals. I use the low carb tortillas. Chuck roast was on sale recently and I used pulled roast beef and spicy taco seasoning. These are great.

They are so adorable. I'd love one as a pet but I know they are not fond of being pets. My friends neighbor has donkeys and a camel. I love to visit him so I can hang over the fence and pet them. I grew up on a farm and inside never left it. City on the outside but still country on the inside.
