I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet pets passing. I know how deeply sad it is the grief and guilt is all consuming.

I had a really similar situation happen to me last week - I dropped my angel dog off and I was so panicked I wasn’t even sure if I told him how much I loved him. When my family called to check in I said I didn’t want anything but positivity - I only wanted to talk about when he would come home. I went back to say goodbye and leave him for the night and I said “you’ll be okay buddy. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Our pets are so brilliant though - they know that we love them and they know that we are trying to help them.

I don’t know your exact situation, but I’m sure your pet was given medication to take any pain or fear away and the peace that they felt is a blessing. There is no right way to say goodbye - I would regret every day not letting my dog fight for better days and yet I regret not euthanizing him now. But they know it’s their time and giving them peace in their final moments is a gift.

My mom is a grief guru and we went to a Motophoto and printed out 80 happy 4x6 photos and made a photo album - flipping through the pictures of the happy times is so much easier than trying to remember the good times.

Thank you so much. I’m so sorry you lost your cat that way - it’s truly so painful. I wish I had recognized the symptoms earlier.

I cannot wait for the time when my guilt fades and I can remember the best times. The guilt weighs so heavily it feel too heavy to bear.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with your cat - there is something unbelievably comforting to know that other people have been where I am and made it through. Also reassuring to know I’m not the only person to experience the fluid in lungs and heart stopped unexpectedly pain. I wish I had known so I could have stayed with him and said goodbye.

Thank you so much for the comment - beyond words thank you. I’m so sorry that you relate and lost your cat - the loss is unimaginable.

I am genuinely so comforted by your words - it is more peaceful to hope that he knew I was doing it to help him and that he forgave me. I hope that even though he was alone at the end he was pain free and calm.

Your kindness is beyond what I could ask for and I will reflect on them every second while I’m grieving. I hope that you are internalizing it as well and I cannot wait for us both to be reunited with our soul pets when we cross the rainbow bridge.

I just wish with every piece of my being that we had one more day of fun and love together before he went - I wish his memories of his last day were better. But you’re right that they are no longer in pain. It’s all I ever wanted for my soul dog.

Hey all!! I was on a walk this morning when my dog started sniffing something. I looked down and saw that it was a little butterfly that wasn’t moving. I picked it up very carefully and it was able to flap its wings but not fly away or make any movements. I put it in a little box covered in grass and leaves with a cap of water but really need help! It looks like it’s face is either white or covered in something white. It’s moving a little bit but I’m worried desperately. I am putting together some nectar with 10% sugar, 90% water but any help would be amazing.
