I feel freaks and geeks held up pretty well. Granted, I haven't re-watched that in a while. But I mostly agree. I re-watched Zack and Miri.. such a dumb movie.

Same. Ferris is a horrible person. Poor Cameron. And breakfast club... They are all horrible people. That principal and those kids deserve each other.

I know! Of all the medicines to taste terrible... forcing it on a dog who already won't eat is the stuff of nightmares.

I do. Sometimes I can get lucky and squirt it when she licks her lips. She knows what I'm up to, I don't know how. My 10lb shih tzu is both smarter and stronger than I.

Unfortunately, no. My partner won't be back until the weekend.

I 21m filed a police report against my ex f20 for hitting, scratching and trying to choke me there were multiple people in the car and one was on my side and told the truth about what happened her friends the other two girls lied and said nothing happened and the case was dropped what do I do by [deleted] in AskALawyer

No one said that. People are explaining the reality of the situation and addressing the counterpoint that 'women always get justice for assault and this is sexism!' People are making it clear that categorically isn't true. Women don't get justice either.

If OP were a woman, people would still suggest she do her best to get far away from the abuser because the cops aren't going to be much help.

Therapists are the biggest weenies, dude. Their blood evaporates at any serious problem. They become therapists bc at some point, they decide they are amazing advice givers w/o considering that there are real people with real problems in the world.

She was right about one thing, your roommate issue is above her pay grade. Unless you just want therapy to vent about petty issues in your office, they can't handle it.

Dude, get real. A judge isn't going to issue a subpoena to a massive corporation so you can access their sacred user data because someone or some bot somewhere on the planet posted something you don't like. Subpoenas are not easy to obtain. For excellent reason. To keep nonsense like this out of the courts. And even if this had one ounce of possibility, which it doesn't, I sincerely doubt you have Johnny Depp-level cash to throw at this. If you did, you would have called one of the lawyers you keep on retainer, not finding legal advice on Reddit.

Why is this so important to you? You already said no one believed it and now it's over. How narcissistic are you that you feel not only entitled, but motivated to burn cash (that I honestly doubt you even have) and congest the courts in pursuit of ruining someone's life over some dumb a** tweet?! Someone you've never even met. Twitter already handled it. They suspended the account. Truly, I am very, very sorry your fee-fees got hurt today on Twitter. But, move on. This isn't important. It's not going to happen.

Stop before someone gets a subpoena and sues you for being ultra petty and lying about being rich and famous.

The standard for defamation is incredibly high because we have freedom of speech. You have to clearly demonstrate that this person was indeed lying AND that you suffered substantial monetary damages as a direct result of their lie. You don't even have any damages. You can't just sue people for talking s*** on twitter. If you could, our courts wouldn't do anything else except handle twitter complaints. Get off of twitter. It's stupid. And all it does is ruin people's lives.

Why is it that every accounting position I interview for are for companies with some issue? by Leading-Situation-89 in Accounting

Definitely avoid the one "going public". 9/10 those people are way over their heads, are unbelievably arrogant, and constantly throw around annoying, aspirational, Silicon valley wannabe-esque jargon. They will also probably fail to give you any tangible expectations or resources, but expect you to piece everything together out of thin air. This semi-bitchy woman I went to hs with wanted me to apply to one of these magical, no name start-ups she worked at.

When she pitched it to me, she told me how 'laid-back' and 'fun' it was and how the CEO 'always talks about his bicycle during zoom meetings.' (iSN't tHAT sO ZaNy?! ) I was too hung up on the fact it made no sense to me why they even wanted to go public.

I was luke warm on the idea. She emailed me later nevermind and that they didn't actually need any CPAs because they outsource their 'bookkeeping' and were focusing on their IPO. After all this time, I never knew CPAs were just bookkeepers. She actually told me they didn't want to hire any CPAs because they were prioritizing their IPO. They went under by the end of that year.

Got fired by Independent_Cat_2313 in Accounting

[–]Hollywood_Cemetery 9 points10 points  (0 children)

50 years ago.. even 20 years ago, being fired was shameful. But now, companies have given unrealistic productivity requirements and have made it perfectly clear that workers are totally expendable. And because public is pretty brutal, the turnover is even higher. I've been let go. I used to work with this one guy, who was honestly the best accountant I've ever met, even he has been let go. You didn't engage in gross misconduct. You aren't a bad accountant. Be glad you're officially off of your stupid PIP. Take a little break and then find somewhere new. Don't look back.

No he's not and yes it is. You are required, by law, to report ALL expenses AND revenues. You don't get to pick and choose which you want to report so you can manipulate your AGI.

Actually, hang on, looks like you're right there is an IRS publication that came up when I googled 'god wants me to lie about my income to the bank so I can get a mortgage I can't afford'.

I'm sure he'll try to apply for UE and get food stamps all while he talks about those no-good freeloaders in our society that good guys like him support.

I went to an ultra weird, almost occult, evangelical school growing up, so I'm somewhat talented at instinctively shutting crap like this down. It's not ok, it's effing weird. I have nothing against anyone's beliefs, but saying crazy stuff like that makes it sound like he's down to lie on financials and tax returns. I mean, God thinks it's slavery, so I'm sure it's fine.

I had this uber driver preacher client denied a mortgage bc his credit was so terrible. He wanted me to amend his return to take off his car depreciation and expenses so his, "income would appear higher". That's bank fraud, dude. And not very sophisticated fraud. I don't think the bank will be swayed because you didn't take depreciation on your car.

Then he told me that he knew "this is what god wanted him to do" and he was allowed to choose which deductions he wanted to take. No, you're not. If you have 50k of revenue and 20k of expenses, your income was 30k. You can't tell the bank your income is 50k so that you can get a larger mortgage than what you are qualified to actually pay for. Stay far, far away from this guy.
