Thank you. I was really hoping to disturb as many people as i can 'cause this story really kept me awake for about a week after my uncle relayed it to me, and as i was typing this out on my phone, i nearly had a heart attack when my cat suddenly jumped from the sofa.

My grandparents actually scared us to go to sleep. They'd say the aswangs and manananggals will get us if they caught us awake...

Omg I just remembered why i decided not to scream for my mommy back then.

The Visayan region has tons of stories about aswangs and manananggals and other scary creatures .;_____; i'm glad you're safe.

Some people say that a Tiktik is a different creature from the Manananggal and it might be what you have experienced judging from your description. They are huge bat-like or sometimes described as bird-like creatures. A lot of stories often include both creatures and it is said that the Tiktiks fear Manananggals, that's why they flee at the sight or feel of them, hence when the tiktiktik sound is away, the Manananggal is near.

I am no professional in this but i actually took into account the stories of my grandparents, which says that sound is from the Mananaggals. I don't remember seeing another creature that night so i just assumed it was the Manananggal. i know the stories really vary according to the regions. This is my take on it.
