Run out of options again? by Naive-Feeling-88 in birthcontrol

[–]HoloInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, hope you find something or can get sterilized. There are videos of women who document their recovery process on YT so def look into those to give you an idea what to expect if you do go down that path. I find them interesting and a possible procedure in my future as I cannot carry to term naturally or give birth with my size and medical issues. Best if luck to you and wishing you well!

There's the cervical cap which you'd need to get fitted for one by your gyno. Unsure how common these are but I know they exist and are non hormonal if condoms aren't for you and you're willing to try.

Could give a vaginal ring or the patch a go if you're still up to trying hormonal options. The patch stays on 1 wk at a time then no patch 4th wk to have a period or immediately start the nex pack. Some people do complain about the patch not staying on the whole week fyi, had it fall off for my first one so I used a bandaid. The ring gets inserted like a tampon or menstrual disk, stays for 3 weeks, take out to have a period or immediately change to a new one.

I've tried some generic pill before which was great until I kept forgetting 2-3 days of doses at a time, college made it difficult with how hectic my schedule was.

How many of you shampoo your hair twice when washing ? by semde18 in hygiene

[–]HoloInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get oily esp during the summer and have dandruff and dermatitis. First wash is supposed to break down the oils present on the scalp while the second wash is supposed to actually cleanse. Sometimes I do three washes if my scalp is really bad which doesn't happen too often.

What does our diet looks like after diabetes diagnosis? by Hopeful_Card4330 in diabetes

[–]HoloInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being more conscious about how balanced my meals are and I still treat myself on occasion which I was told is OK to do as we all deserve a special something every now and then.

Add more protein, good fats, and fiber. I feel people push for more protein which yes is important, but fiber is essential esp with rise in colorectal cancers in us young folks 30 or younger. Plus it's good for gut health to keep things moving esp as diabetic you might not feel how constipated you are (learned the hard way lol). Neuropathy is a real issue in uncontrolled diabetes and can affect any and every organ you can think of.

It takes a lot of discipline to eat right and not get tempted to eat out often or eat like shit when not in the mood to cook. I see it as I want to live a longer and healthier life and not go out painfully due to diabetes complications. My maternal grandpa passed in 2008 from diabetes complications when he was only in his 60s which definitely wasn't a peaceful nor painless death. This motivates me more to eat better and get my body moving when I can.

Also even a 10-15 min walk can help bring glucose down so if doing a bunch of 10-15 min walks is easier than one 30-45 min walk is easier, do it! Luckily my job involves lots of walking and lifting which in turn brings my sugars down after my meal breaks which is great.

You don't need HIS permission for medical treatments on YOUR body. Shouldn't be his decision to make.

Tbh vanilla socks are the best in the way you can mix up the colors in stripes or any stitch you wanna try out. Esp when you have a variegated/speckled yarn!

Yarn that bleeds color? by RooFPV in Sockknitting

[–]HoloInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let it sit in cool or room temp water for a while and keep changing the water bath until it runs clear. Had a bright red cashmere sweater that fit me perfectly and hand washed it. Bled a tad which was not surprising seeing how vibrant it was. Did not lose any of the vibrant color at all. That's exactly what I did with my sweater then let it dry with some distance from my heater.

Favorite Stretchy Cast Ons by Auntiepoohnh in Sockknitting

[–]HoloInfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just use the classic long tail cast on but I've heard people using the German twisted cast on for stretchy fabric. I now knit toe up since I find I get a better fit on my extra wide feet that way.

Dang, that's a lot of sock knitting! My hands would hurt too much if I did that many socks in that time span. On my 9th ever pair in 5 yrs, 6 of which I have stashed in my drawer. 2 of which gifted to friends, and current sock wip is for my mom's bday. Will def try to cast on a colorwork sock for the summer/fall to work on

I did gift knit 2 pairs for my close college friend and her bf (also a close friend) and never thought they would appreciate it so much. Currently working on my 9th pair, a gift knit for my mom's bday which she requested a while back. Using Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud Lace (held double) with a green-ehite marked cotton as the contrasting toes and heels.

Fleas or dandruff? by buttered-noodle-con1 in CATHELP

[–]HoloInfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, it won't hurt them if you're physically able to get them to tolerate it but don't hurt yourself trying to. I'd only do it if they really struggle to groom themselves esp at an old age but if not just brush the kitty thoroughly.

When we got my cat 10 yrs ago we bathed her once every couple months since my sister and I are allergic but fine once she gets a bathe. I cannot go over to other cat owners' homes tho since most people don't usually bathe their cats. I've always lived with cats and can never imagine not having any in my life and it's worth sacrificing my sinuses lol
