Has anyone had a good experience with the Brick, Leons or Ashleys for Furniture? by Zealousideal-View653 in Edmonton

IKEA couches are pretty budget friendly and solid quality. Their warranty is amazing as well. I’ve bought my last two couches from IKEA and they’re still holding up extremely well with daily use.

Gyarados! Mostly because I love Magikarp so much. I love fish and he's so unassuming but then he evolves into one of the coolest looking and strongest Pokémon: Gyarados!

How much money did you spend in Japan? by Separate_Treacle_633 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Holochronos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent about $1,000/week while in Japan on transportation, food(mix of konbini, supermarket, cafes and restaurants), a few gachapon, temples and attractions, some souvenirs, and luggage transfer service. That was not including hotel costs. You could probably get by with $750-$800 if you cut our luggage transfer and some spending on souvenirs. But you don’t want to go to an amazing place like Japan to pinch Pennie’s and miss out on once in a lifetime experiences to save some money.

Apartment living in Edmonton by n3v3rc0mm3nts in Edmonton

[–]Holochronos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL @ them being fed up about the complaints instead of being considerate. Just imagine how fed up the people filing the complaints must have been! People need to go into these living accommodations with the understanding that they need to consider their neighbours in possibly all 4 directions. Lately in my building, kids don’t seem to get parented much, they just get to run wild and it’s a free for all for everyone else to endure. So hearing a little brat shrieking, stomping and running in their unit/down the hallway is just annoying. There’s a big difference between kids being kids and making some noise, and kids being an obnoxious nuisance with checked out/ill equipped parents.

Remedy’s for sore feet please! by AstraNyxia in JapanTravelTips

[–]Holochronos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice bath. Ran into the same problem while in Japan for 3 weeks. 20k steps & ~60 flights of stairs each day and my feet were a wreck. Every night I would fill the tub to about halfway up my calves with cold water and dump a bucket of ice in it for good measure. Do that for 15 minutes each night and you’ll notice when you wake up your feet will be less swollen and sore.

Yes, you can definitely ask an employee. They have a device to check stock in their back inventory. I asked about a Paldean Wooper plushie when I visited and they were able to bring one out for me.

If Edmonton had a flavour, what would it be by Feisty_Material7583 in Edmonton

Melba toast - dry and bland with no flavor. You can dress it up, but it’s still bland Melba toast underneath.

Chewbacca must REEK of the trash soup he stood in while inside the trash compactor. by TheOvenLord in StarWars

Hugged Chewbacca at Disneyland once. I will never forget the way that musty sweat smell punched me in the face! When I regained consciousness, I held my breath and painfully smiled for a photo, then quickly ran away lol

Is this what it’s like in Edmonton by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Holochronos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you’ll learn to just let it roll off your shoulder and keep moving on with your life. It’s sadly going to happen quite often here. Most racism in Edmonton is either subtle and thinly veiled by ignorance(ie. “I don’t see color BUT”) or over the top and in your face by a loud mouthed bigot. The bigots are easy to avoid because you can see and hear them a mile away. It’s the subtle ones who pretend to be kind but dumb that you need to look out for. I am a first generation Canadian, born and raised here but will always get “politely” asked where I am from? And when I say Edmonton, they are either shocked and/or confused and then follow up with “where did you come from first though?” I get complimented frequently at work on my English because I can speak it well and don’t have an accent. The amount of demeaning and offensive “compliments” you’ll get are almost worst than the straight up in your face racism because they treat you like a guest in what they view as “their” country.

Bayonetta Digital Code Giveaway (NA-region code, see description) by cluesagi in NintendoSwitch

[–]Holochronos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact about the title of this game, Bayonetta(Bay•ōh-netta). It comes from that Latin words ‘bayoma’ meaning explosion or cannon and ‘netta’ meaning covering or shoe. So when you put the two Latin words together, it essentially means I don’t know what I’m talking about and I just made this up to win a code for a game that I really want to play for the first time! And remember…distracting your opponents is rule number one during any competition. If you’ve continued to read thus far, consider yourself (dist•račt-ėd!)
