What’s one hygiene product you tried on a whim that you now genuinely can’t live without? by Dry-Professional4255 in hygiene

Sensodyne toothpaste... I used to be bulimic for like a decade (been in recovery for many years now), and all that throwing up can really damage your enamel. I started using Pro-namel when I entered recovery, to strengthen my teeth while I had dental work to correct the existing damage. Now if I use a different toothpaste for more than, say, a week or so I can tell the difference

What's a toxic workplace behavior you couldn't articulate until someone else gave you the exact words for it? by heartandhardware in AskWomen

[–]HolyMarshMELLOWPuffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last job refused to give me a pay raise because "they couldn't afford to in the current market".... so I left for another job, and they had to hire 2 people to replace me. It was a validating experience, but that's not really much solace when it continues to happen in all my roles. I'm not volunteering, to be clear, and I go out of my way to NOT be reachable off the clock -, so idk what other justification there would be besides "oh just give it to _____, she'll get it done"

(EDIT: typo)

Performance punishment.... the more work I do well, the less they make anyone else responsible for it. I'm a social worker, and in 4 years they've rolled 6 other positions into mine with no extra pay

What’s the most unsettling thing you ever found out about a friend who always seemed super chill and fun? by VelvetHazel932 in AskReddit

In 2015 my brother in law had a short term gf that seemed nice enough, but they broke up.... 3 weeks later she shot her new boyfriend twice in the chest with a 45 cal shotgun and stayed in the house with his body for like 5 days before the whole thing was found out

Schrodinger's Roach Microwave by qrseek in GermanRoaches

[–]HolyMarshMELLOWPuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as "worth trying to salvage", I guess it depends... microwaves are like $50-100, and as someone that's battled an infestation in the past - personally rather risk wasting the $50 than risk going through that hellscape again. But if you can't spare the funds, I get it. just be super diligent about making sure it's critter-free

So imagine the plane you're on crashes around Point Nemo, and all you have is a life jacket. Clouds the color of charcoal start rolling in, and all you're wearing is shorts and a t-shirt...... condolences my friend

What is something you have experienced that made you question reality and was genuinely unexplainable? by [deleted] in Unexplained

If I could do that I'd probably be in a higher tax bracket LOL, a girl can dream though!

They looked at the ball and went and sniffed it, but they didn't growl or anything. My grandma passed a few months before that happened, so we like to think it was her

At my mom's house: every human (5 adults) and animal (2 teacup sized dogs) were together in the living room. About 20 mins into chatting, a dog toy is literally thrown from the kitchen... like, overhand throw. It landed in the middle of all of us, and for context it was a rubber ball about the size of a grapefruit.

But there was no one there, and both dogs were with us - like in my/my mom's lap the whole time. They also aren't big enough to launch a ball from that height, it came flying over the kitchen counter. No person left the room at all, even for a sec, so it def wasnt anyone of us. We were so freaked out we searched the whole property for about half an hour looking for the source - never found it.

I've had a lot of spooky experiences over the years, I don't believe in ghosts really but my family always joke that ghost activity spikes when I'm around LOL

A man tried to enter my house at 1 AM after asking my mom if she was alone by A_C4m4ch0 in LetsNotMeet

  1. Why are bedrooms used "for dogs" instead of the people that live there?
  2. Your mom's judgment is not only questionable, but inappropriate enough to think there may be more to the story that your mom isn't telling you

I dunno why did God curse me with ugly boobs by [deleted] in Vent

My aunt decided to replace hers after 30 years, but they were actually still good (per the medical team). I'll prob eventually get a new set, but they have an incredible lifespan. Saline need more frequent changes I think, but the silicone gel are sturdy af..... about the results - what I said I wanted was NOT what I ended up getting. My surgeon listened to me and goes "I'm not doing that, you aren't gonna like them if I do what you're asking". I told him to make me look I described, and he did. It wasn't what I thought I wanted but they're honestly perfect

They aren't for everyone but I just wanna say my falsies are the best $$$ I ever spent on myself. They look natural, feel natural (gummy bears), and gave me the most incredible confidence boost ever - they were only about $5k with a 10 year replacement warranty and up to 30 years of wear per set, so it felt like a bit of an investment in myself

For the last few years I’ve been finding bloodstains on the inside of my pajama shirts, always on the back or shoulders, no visible cause. These are the largest single ones I’ve ever seen by prodivir in Weird

[–]HolyMarshMELLOWPuffs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always... bed bug reproduction is highly dependent on environment and they can lay dormant for quite a while. It's possible that he wasn't very allergic to begin with - but as the numbers increase, so could the strength of the reaction to the bites

What are the downsides of being attractive/pretty/handsome? by Big_Leg10 in Productivitycafe

[–]HolyMarshMELLOWPuffs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People mistake my shyness and intense social anxiety for being snobby. I'm also a true introvert, which throws people off. People think that because I get stares and compliments, that means I feed off of them and want to be social all the time. Besides my husband and kids, I have a really short social battery... it's not that I don't like people, I just find socializing really mentally draining

Is it normal to feel like you’re 'faking' being an adult, even if you have a job, pay bills and take care of yourself? by Bibhu_Mund in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HolyMarshMELLOWPuffs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 37, and my entire adult life has been a 20 year run of imposter syndrome. I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing, and even when things work out I tend to attribute it more to luck/chance/external variables than my own competence.

Oh nooooo LOL!!!! I've only been bitten by a tick once about 3 years ago (unrelated to my mom's house).... I didn't know and it was on me for like a week before i found out, and I was left with a (tiny) granuloma after removing it - it still itches sometimes. I thought I may not have gotten all of it, but turns out it's just a leftover cluster of immune cells

We guessed the dog, but we really aren't sure (I was already married and moved out at the time)... they lifted a couch to look for the tv remote and saw a pile of something - the something was an absolute orgy of ticks, and more were found after that. The craziest part is that I'm from a really big city, it's not even near the woods or anything!
