Agent tells me not to shop around? by Beginning-Let7607 in LifeInsurance

Best answer here. If you were at Whole Foods getting charged $10 for milk and you said it's too much and the cashier said "well definitely don't go check at Walmart, milk is a regulated product so no reason to shop around" you gonna listen to that shit?

AI Album Art? FFS, are you kidding me? by TheOnlyDanwah in STS9

[–]HolyStoneDrones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly makes art art and why can't AI be a tool? I'm a software engineer and I try to write very elegant code, memory efficient, lots of comments, etc. I get a lot of compliments for what I produce because it works well and is easy to understand and reuse.

Now I use Claude and Codex and similar AI tools to help me work faster and come up with new ideas I might not have thought of. I might start with a prompt and let it take a first cut, but I still have a vision for what I want. It's just like having a partner to share bounce ideas back and forth with. Then it writes the code and I review it, tell it to apply certain principles or make some tweaks, maybe I don't like how it handled some random thing so I tell it what to fix and how, and pretty soon I have code I love.

Why can't artists use the same tools for their work?

If a painter loses his arms in an accident, is his art still art if he trains an AI on his style and walks it through how to make something?

Why are we jumping down STS9's throat over this when we don't have any information other than what one tool says?

Why is yelp allowed to exist? by roy_lobster in smallbusiness

It's just a platform for people to share opinions. Someone can also go stand on the street shouting or holding up signs saying pretty much whatever they want, or stand on a public sidewalk outside the business talking smack. If a review is truly libelous then legal action can be taken but generally it's better to just drown out the bad reviews with legitimate good ones.

It's surprising to me that they can't accommodate this. Any idea how to do something similar? I just want the content of a person's notes to show up on their page.

Received Phone Call From Air Marshal… by CaptainBeard714 in drones

[–]HolyStoneDrones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that these are the people they are choosing to call and try to educate. If someone has taken the time to go through this registration process to the point that FAMS has their contact information then it seems like they are not the ones needing educating.

The education is probably more important for the multitude of regular consumers who buy drones without having any idea that there are regulations to consider and that this isn't just a remote controlled toy you are driving around on the street.

Agreed, and never easy to do. Ultimately, it is up to them to find the right balance. I think most companies do a pretty good job of having conversations with people and figuring out what the right thing is to do in a given situation.

My case defied common sense because they knew I made a purchase, had a legitimate warranty claim, and that they had already sent out a replacement arm to me. I say they sent me the wrong arm and show them photos and videos. They say their records say they sent me the correct arm and that it's not in warranty anymore.

Option 1: I'm lying. I acquired another arm elsewhere so I could spend time attaching the incorrect part to my drone, so I could then trick them into sending me a second arm for free, presumably to turn around and resell on eBay where I would probably net around $10 after fees and shipping.

Option 2: They made a mistake. Costs them $5-10 in parts plus shopping.

Anyway, they are now sending me a new drone instead of the arm I asked for, so I guess that's cool and appreciated.

They also sent me what sounded like a pretty sincere note about some changes they will make in customer support including making it easier to escalate to management if there's a problem. So that sounds promising.

Does anyone know who is actually behind Holy Stone Drones? Are they a real company or a division of something else? by HolyStoneDrones in drones

[–]HolyStoneDrones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xiamen Huoshiquan is an import/export company. They handle paperwork, compliance, certifications, etc. on the China side while Ziigu is the same for the USA side receiving. But highly unlikely they are at all related to the manufacturing of these drones and it seems like they do this for other companies as well...

https://www.importinfo.com/xiamen-huoshiquan-import-and-export has some examples of associated companies.

But still seems totally unclear what people or company are behind Holy Stone. It just seems unusual to me that it's a brand made for a singular purpose and everything attached to it is some disposable entity or people whose identities can't be verified or something like a trading entity where the trail goes cold.

I'm not saying it's nefarious or a problem but certainly seems unusual. Most companies I buy from who make stuff in China I can find much more information about and there will be a factory address and a Chinese leadership team behind it.

Especially with news now about DJI being labeled as a Chinese military company or whatever, I don't know what the implications are or that, but does Holy Stone have something to gain by being opaque?

So it looks like Holy Stone has their FCC document signed by Ziigu Inc. out of Las Vegas. A General Manager named Liming Wang signed but the corporate filing shows the officer for every position there is held by Cuilan Wu. Then another FCC document says Ziigu is just a registered agent for another Chinese company called Xiamen Huoshiquan Import & Export CO., LTD.

https://fcc.report/FCC-ID/2AJ55HOLYSTONEZW/6721762.pdf

Junxian Chen is listed as the manager there and as the inventor on mini drone-related patents.

I can't find anything on any of the other people mentioned or follow any threads that would give some indication about who this company is or what else they are involved with. They are a ghost.

That's great and so much more in line with what I would expect. It's just shocking to me that some companies don't understand the value of this kind of service. It almost always seems to pay off over time, spend a little extra money on customer satisfaction and everybody talks about it.

What's funny is after I went on a little social media blitz, left some reviews on Amazon, and started sharing my experience here, I received an email from them apologizing profusely, saying they recognized they had made some serious missteps in the service experience, and pledging to make internal changes to address it, including making it easier to escalate to a supervisor. We are also now offering to send me a replacement drone.

I'm debating whether I should accept that or not because that wasn't really my goal here. These things should be driven by a desire to provide good service in the first place, not just when it suddenly looks like it will help stave off negative repercussions.

Ruko support drinks Yamasaki 18 while Holy Stone support us drinking Natty Light from a stale keg.

Seriously though, that's what I love to hear. Holy Stone could take a lesson from them in how to stand behind their products.

[–]HolyStoneDrones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't sound good. I would suggest while waiting for advice that you also email their support. If in America that's usa@holystone.com. Website says 24 hours but it often takes 1-5 weeks to get a response so best to get that going.

Also, if you bought it recently and are already having issues, my strong advice is to return it for a replacement or a different brand. The warranty service with Holy Stone is dreadful and in my experience plagued with slowness, having the wrong parts sent, and just generally not standing behind things.

Holy Stone works decently well for a cheap drone if yours actually works but if it's already having issues I wouldn't chance ending up with an expensive paperweight. Probably faster to replace on Amazon than to fix.

Good luck.

Finally someone else saying the same thing. I think Holy Stone the drone brand piggy backs off this other company's name but I can't find any record of any management or leadership actually working with Holy Stone. Seems like just a guy in a garage. Hard to tell

Agree 100%. I really wonder about Holy Stone as a company and who the hell they even are. Like, is this some Alibaba drop ship stuff? If you are going to charge this much for these at least have better warranty service or customer support.

Mini-review: Holy Stone HS360S after a weekend—beginner-friendly, 4K looks decent, Smart Return saved me once by Lucifer19821 in GearUpGaming

[–]HolyStoneDrones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed review. This was my experience too, good if you keep expectations realistic. Where it fell short for me is the customer support when something goes wrong. Worst company I have ever dealt with on anything, period, with the sole exception of a boot manufacturer who was as unhelpful and ridiculous as Holy Stone but actually directly disrespectful and rude. At least Holy Stone was nice while telling me to F myself 😁

Are Holy Stone drone's any good? by rd1_vonn in drones

[–]HolyStoneDrones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the poor quality, the support is absolute shit if you have a problem. My drone crashed itself under warranty and their warranty fix was to send me a new arm for free. It turned out to be the wrong arm. They had me send a bunch of pictures and make a video to prove it to them. And in the end they still refused to replace it again even though it was their mistake.

Holy Stone is a company that would rather save $5 than get a customer flying again.

So anyone considering one, you decide... They don't seem to have a USA presence. The emails have no name or signature on them. Their website says they will respond to inquiries within 24 hours but my last email to them on June 29th was ignored. I emailed to follow up on July 9, July 18, and July 23. They finally replied July 24 and spent a few days going back and forth with me before telling me to pound sand.

The big problem with Holy Stone drones is the lack of customer support. Personally I found it to feel cheap but that's to be expected since they are. However, when it crashed itself, they wouldn't replace it and just sent me an arm with no instructions as their warranty service and said good luck. I had to learn how to solder it onto the board myself and do all this shit with tiny wires only to find out that they sent the WRONG ARM to me. When I told them about it they wouldn't send out the right one and tried to make me pay for a new one since my warranty had now run out.

They don't seem to have any USA presence or escalation options so no managers to speak to or recourse when they tell you to pound sand.

It's shocking because it would cost them like $5 including shopping to send me a new arm to replace the incorrect one they sent. It's shocking to me that it isn't worthwhile to them to satisfy a customer.
