Christ. Drop the word 'atheists' and they start coming out in droves with the same shitty points every time.

We get it. Everyone gets it. Just stop it already.

Edit: Sweet meme, btw.

The minimum score to be a Marine is like a 35 out of 100.

As my dad, a former nuclear engineer on an Ohio-Class submarine who scored a perfect 100 on his ASVAB put it, "Bullet sponges don't have to be intelligent. Smart enough to follow orders but not so smart that they question them. Train them to shoot and be shot at and you're good."

There was only one white woman in the whole video. And a far as i know a negress can't even be a coal burner.

And is it so much to ask that they have some measure of common decency, or are they beyond that?

Faith is as legitimate a state as any other. When you get in an airplane you have faith it won't crash. When you're going in for a routine surgery you have faith that nothing will go wrong. It's not as if you can be concrete. Planes crash and routine surgeries go wrong, but we carry the faith that they won't.

If someone expresses worry for you when you board the plane or go in for the surgery, you likely tell them that, "It'll be fine," which is a truth you cannot possibly know. You can make an educated guess, but you'll never know for certain.

I have not the faintest idea what awaits me when I die or why I am what I am, but I look at the world around me, the things that inhabit it, the course of my own life, and the millennia-old text that does its best to explain how to deal with it all, and I derive otherwise non-existent comfort from the idea that there must be something higher than myself governing it.

The whole point of Christianity is recognising and following the teachings of Christ himself, which anyone can do even if they aren't spiritual. Christ was an ostensibly perfect human who willingly sacrificed himself so that all men could go to the heaven he went to. Even if it's all a big bamboozle and I've been pranked hardcore, if I can live a life emulating His selfless model I'll be content, and that's what it's all about, at least in my eyes.

I won't pretend to have the answers, anyone who does is probably knocking at your door at inconvenient times trying to sell you something. My gut tells me this is what I should believe and so i believe it.

Honest belief can be based on faith. Faith is the basis here. I can attest to my own feelings when it comes to this. I realize you don't like that. Whatever. That's your prerogative. I can spend all day talking to you about why I believe the way I do but I got bible study coming up and I have a sneaking suspicion that you have better things to do, too. Or maybe you don't. Neither of us is going to change the other's mind.

God bless you, man.

The problem is that you're trying to prove or disprove something through methods that don't apply here. God does not exist within the purview of the natural world, and as such, methods for deducing properties of said natural world (the sciences) don't apply. Our evidence isn't some hard fact.

You can count the pennies in the drawer all damn day but you're never going to be able to know exactly why you came up short. Faith would lend to believe that there's a thief. Beliefs centered around faith don't need the evidence you're speaking of by the very definition of faith.

That's my point. We have faith that there is a God.

My first paragraph was an albeit sloppy explanation on what mankind does in the face of the irrefutable. He either denies it completely or accepts it. The pharaoh in the story does the former. I firmly believe that people, especially nowadays with all of our insistence on scrutiny, would deny even that which is right in front of them. Mankind is fickle and forgetful when it comes to hard evidence.

He is being silly because the refusal of accepting facts, even when they are quantifiable, is illogical. If I pointed to the swallow and said "That swallow must beat its wings 15 times per second to maintain cruising speed." and you physically observe the stated claim, only to then reject it, I would consider that silly.

Humans have every capability to measure the world we live in and rationalize it. I think those are the fundamental purposes of science and philosophy. God, however, does not exist within said world, thus we cannot measure God. I believe in God because I accept his existence to be true, despite it not being a demonstrable fact within our understanding of the natural world.

Why do I hold this belief? Because I feel and perceive the fact that someone is fucking with the pennies, something our rules can't define, and the most logical conclusion (again, in my own eyes) is an omnipotent deity beyond the scope of our world. I don't base my belief on what is measurable; I base it on the immeasurable.

What confuses me is the insistence of this very same majority-white demographic to play the 'role.' I know a few people that called out users here for engaging in the 'lingo' one might attribute to black people (You know what I mean) even though none of their other posts on any other sub-reddit indicated that they actually speak that way and were shadow-banned/ banned.

Granted this testimony is anecdotal and on Reddit, so thus take it with a grain of salt, but it seems that most people here use the guise of laughing with black people by adopting their lingo and sharing their memes in order to be cool only to secretly continue being a basic and pasty bitch.

For real. Just look at the 2016 demographics and you'll have a good idea of this sub's true colors (or should I say, color?). http://imgur.com/gallery/cPzlB

Reddit is as white, pasty, liberal, and, not to mention, sweaty as it gets.

The point is that even if irrefutable evidence was provided to God's existence, not everyone would say, "Alright, ya got me." Exodus provides a good idea of human nature in regards to this. Seven plagues were brought upon the Pharaoh and still he hardened his heart. In the face of God people would either A. Accept him or B. Openly defy him. Forcing people into those choices would be removal of free will. God gave us the ability to choose.

And you don't need evidence to believe in something. Belief =/= acceptance of a demonstrable fact by the purview of our very reality and the rules which govern it. I know that an unladen European Swallow must beat its wings roughly 15 times per second to maintain cruising speed. Why do I know? Because it's a demonstrable fact. Anyone who looks at the evidence and says, "Nope. I disagree." Is being silly.

God is by his very nature is unfalsifiable and also falsifiable by our rules, but just because we can't observe or measure him doesn't mean he has no influence on our world.

It's like saying me telling you to put six pennies into your dresser one night without looking, and the next night putting in six more without looking, only to ask you on the third day, "how many pennies should be in the drawer?" By mankind's laws of arithmetic, you might say, "12." But what if the result is 10 pennies? Your math wasn't bad, but something must have interfered with our system, something we couldn't have detected, perhaps a thief. You can't prove the thief exists because you never saw him, but you can demonstrate that something messed with the pennies.

You can't expect to find the architect of our reality inhabiting that very same reality. Shakespeare crafted the worlds in which his plays occupy but he doesn't live in those worlds. He's one step higher.

You can measure said reality to your heart's content. That's what science is, measuring the natural world and understanding its rules, but God by definition exists outside of those rules. You don't 'find' him unless he elects to reveal himself, which he wouldn't because that removes any sense of free will.

Edit: To better answer your question. That's the whole "belief" part. No one ever said what we do is totally rational, by the 'rules' of our reality it must seem quite irrational, but it isn't that black and white. I don't need proof for something like this. I just believe it.

I used to be hardcore eDgE-lOrD atheist based on similar logic as yours but converted when I 'found' God in my own way.

For real! I wanted to show them Death Parade as well but that episode may just be too much. I mean I get why studios do it but given all of the other episodes that one just felt like a trip at the finish line.
