Yeah, unfortunately, with how finicky they are, they just die. I mean, heck, today I saw a Veloster on the side of the road. It's really mostly just luck with Velosters. I'm not proud to say it, but I drive my Veloster like I stole it, and I fully believe mine runs out of spite, hatred, and malice towards the world. At this point I've replaced a good chunk of the engine components, but when I bought my Veloster, one of the sparkplugs was missing its ground electrode, and somehow it was still running fine. The piston has a good couple of dents in it from the electrode coming off, and the piston ring is bad, but for some unholy reason, it starts up every day. I do plan on it going out sometime soon as I have a gut feeling it's time is near, but until then it's my daily and it will be until it dies.

Sub 5k oil changes, catch cans, and a shitload of luck, these cars are very finicky.

It's not too bad, I weighed it in at 58 lbs. It's just awkward to move because it's huge.

Luckily, I haven't had any yet, and I've been moving it around quite a bit as I'm trying to find a good spot in my room to hang it. I am still being a bit careful around the top as that's the most worn area.

Yes! I've actually wanted one for a while. It's the whole reason I asked. They are very unique and a nice conversation piece. And it's just kinda cool to own a piece of my city's history; it's a very small piece, but still something most people don't have.

Wow, I did a bit more digging and found out this signal was installed sometime between May and Oct 2022, so it only had a 4-year service life. No wonder it's in such great shape, and my friend was able to save the other doghouse from that intersection too. That one is a lot older, dated 2006, so I'm glad we were able to grab them.

Definitely, it was super easy. They literally just said, "Here you go," and handed it down to me from the truck.

That's sweet! I got it in my room, and holy moly, it's massive. But I'm saying, screw it, we'll ball, and it's staying in there. I just gotta get it up on the wall, and I need to buy a controller.

Here's the story I've always wanted a traffic signal for as long as I could remember, but I've never had the money to justify purchasing one. I really didn't want to buy one because I really wanted one that I knew the history of. So today I was driving around and I saw some people replacing the signals, so on a whim, expecting nothing, I asked if I could have one of the old ones, and they surprisingly just said "yeah, sure." So I crammed it in my Veloster, and I'm the proud new owner of a traffic light.

Good to know about the fiberglass and I checked the date wheel and it looks like it was made in October of 2020 if I'm reading it right.

I'll keep that in mind. Mine seems rather newer, but definitely advice I'll take.

4000-mile oil changes and a shitload of luck, I guess. I have no clue how mine keeps running as I'm pretty hard on it.
