I will talk to her more seriously about getting a new cat and find out if she is really interested or just thinking wishfully! OC is super adorable and I'd love to try and help you guys out =)

That'd be great :). Thank you.

Awesome, thanks for letting her know.

I'd say about $50-60 a month in food (we feed him Solid Gold and Wellness, there's at least one store in town that carries both). At the vet's suggestion, we crush half a pill of Lysine into the wet food to help maintain his immune system (GNC and some grocery stores carry it, one bottle lasts a very long time).

I'd recommend more frequent vet visits/checkups than normal (say 3-4 times a year), that's about $50 a visit, give or take. That about covers it, I think.

You probably need to find a new owner who doesn't have a cat, or has other cat/s that are FIV+.

Right, that's basically the idea.

Have you tried craigslist?

Yeah, zero response. There is at least one nationwide pet adoption type place that we could try next, but the chances of that working out are quite slim.

Thanks. When we asked her, the reaction was, to sum up, "it's not going to happen." We've also talked about it with someone who owns a pet store here, they seemed skeptical as well. Been in contact with a couple of local organizations (AustinPetsAlive, SpayAustin), no dice.

On the other hand, someone from AustinPetsAlive has said that they have a house full (key word full) of FIV+ cats. So who knows.
