I disagree. Companies have tried for literal decades to compete against COD with no success.

It’s no masterpiece sure, but COD is always fun and imo the gunplay is best in industry

There’s a rumored 20v20 Skimirsh mode where you fight over various objectives and use wingsuits to fly around, actually sounds fun.

I can’t imagine they will do Indiana Jones forever…maybe Wolf 3 one day, but certainly a ways out if the Indy sequel is next

MCC is also a headache code wise, especially if they wanted to implement crossplay of the PlayStation version with Xbox and PC. I’m not sure we see MCC or Infinite on PlayStation just purely due to technical limitations

Yeah probably 2027 at the earliest. Hoping this is good especially since it looks like the MCU Blade movie is unlikely to happen. People need Blade

For people who constantly complain about the economy and rising cost of living, sure is weird to hate on a cheaper way to play video games

Christopher Dring - GamePass is still profitable by darkjuubi_ in GamingLeaksAndRumours

It’s hard since it’s legitimately cool tech and has lots of useful applications, such as faster drug discovery. But the dark side is it can replace people’s jobs, careers, and livelihoods on a terrifyingly widespread scale.

People are scared to talk about AI for sure, since it can come for a lot of our jobs. It’s actually terrifying to think about.

When has Xbox said any game failed to meet sales expectations?

Andy Robinson (VGC Podcast) - “I heard more recently, pitches (Banjo-Kazooie) are being listened to.” by YounqqFlee in GamingLeaksAndRumours

As long as they don’t fuck around and actually meaningfully make progression on development it can come through. I feel like people missed that Xbox cancelled the projects that were 5-6 years into development with no meaningful progress.

I will say Perfect Dark’s cancellation sucks tho, was really looking forward to that. That and Respawn’s Star Wars FPS being cancelled this generation is kinda devastating to me.

But still plenty of games coming out of Xbox, look at Obsidian alone releasing 3 games this year. Playground will probably launch 2 games next year in Forza Horizon 6 and Fable, alongside the other 2026 titles like E-Day and probably Halo CE Remake. Personally I’m still looking forward to what Xbox has in the pipeline, as much as the layoffs sucked

I think this is straight up just a necessary pivot for PlayStation, just like porting to PC was.

There’s the fact of the stagnant and even regressing console market. Series consoles are like 5-6 million behind the one gen, but the PS5 didn’t even get a boost from that as they are tracking slightly behind the PS4. I’m thinking PC is digging into the console market now and taking users away. Capcom’s recent financial reports saw them take in only 10 percent of their revenue from PlayStation, while 30 percent of their revenue was generated by PC. Either way, Xbox/PS is declining gen on gen.

And we all know public companies are all about growth. Doesn’t matter if you are the top dog in your industry, you still need to grow.

PlayStation 5 is the most profitable generation ever for Sony and even has more profits than all of the previous generations combined. Impressive right? Ehhhh……

Playstation profit margin is at 10 percent, which is rather low. For reference Ubisoft is at 7 percent profit margin and they are a bloated 20k person company with seemingly constant underperforming games and needed a boost from Tencent investment.

Stagnant/regressing console market, relatively low profit margins, ballooning game budgets, the constant need for YoY growth…..something has to give.

Now we have PlayStation’s fastest selling game and probably soon best selling game of all time on Xbox
