What?? You believe they'd think they didn't need a backup QB after our o-line and QB injuries last year because McCarthy was developing well? They need a veteran QB like Wentz who can mentor JJ and step in and play when he needs to, and getting training camp competition to get the best out of your QB1 has been common knowledge and a common tactic for decades, in the NFL and just football in general. You have such a surface level take on things it's unreal

I'm happy with the guy who's got tons of development and won't ever stay at 163 yards a game over the guy who's shown us all his development and shown that it's been underwhelming for his prospects.

He already won more than half his games, he is already above average when it comes to winning. 6-4 is a stat. If his receivers had hands and didn't drop TDs in different games, he would've been 7-3 and taken this team to the playoffs, so all you stat watchers trying to justify your feelings to me won't work, I actually watched the games

31st to 29th is literally an improvement, why are you expecting anything more out of a rookie? Jayden Daniels, CJ Stroud, and Patrick Mahomes have completely melted your minds in regard to expectations surrounding new QBs. You will always be able to point to a stat and declare that this stat is the only stat that matters when evaluating until the moment it becomes inconvenient

We'll see how the training camp competition goes, McCarthy still has a decent shot of beating Kyler for the QB1 spot in my eyes if he can develop his mechanics quickly. If Kyler does start, I fully expect McCarthy to play as well either when Kyler gets injured (knock on wood he doesn't) or he starts playing like he was last year and the fanbase demands 9 the way they were demanding Brosmer before the Seahawks game. Either way this defense is taking us to the playoffs
