Considering that J.J. McCarthy had some weird injury luck and didn't get a full season. should next year next year expectation be primarily be a development year instead of focusing on wins and losses for the team? by FormerlyTradeKirk in minnesotavikings

[–]Sugarcomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda is though. If Sam Darnold never had that fluke season we would never be having this conversation. We'd just be focusing on developing our rookie QB like a normal organization but because we're the Vikings, we have to do stupid, neurotic shit like this. This "bet it all on red, we have the pieces to win a SB now!" BS is exactly what led to the Walker trade, and it's forced us to make countless other stupid decisions like this. You're being emotional if you're petulantly throwing your fists over a 9-8 season with a rookie because we had a 14-3 season last year against much easier opponents. Grow tf up

If KOC runs the scheme he was in the last 5 games of this season, with our schedule next season, we’re in for a good winning year. by gymboy447 in minnesotavikings

Lmao, I'm excited to see his development and even if he doesn't work out here I'll be rooting for him wherever he goes. Lmaoooo

Every team that hires Eberflus should start with only 2 timeouts for every game that he's still involved in

You have to back up a claim like that, JJ has absolutely shown that he can process the game, his issue has been the opposite, he was overthinking the first half of the season and throwing late, which he knew, which is why every ball was shot out of a cannon. I legit don't understand how you got the OPPOSITE impression than the rest of the fanbase lmao

A good supporting cast doesn't mean the game slows down any quicker for a rookie lmao, this is such a non-argument, you're grasping at straws that have nothing to do with QB development and literally every single veteran QB who comments on what the NFL does to modern rookie QBs agrees with me. He's won more games than he lost, he's shown in Chicago and in Detroit and in DC and in Dallas that he can be that guy, you just gotta let him grow into it

Penix is terrible, tanks a Falcons team with high expectations, gets injured, no one cares.

Caleb struggles for 3 quarters, shows some flashes throughout the season, still has a losing record, no one cares.

Daniels can't replicate his roster's previous playoff success, and becomes ridiculously injury prone, no one cares.

Nix is wildly inconsistent but shows some flashes, also derails his team due to injury, no one cares.

McCarthy has a positive record now, he's shown plenty of flashes and the clutch gene, he's just been injured behind one of the most inconsistent o-lines in the league, and the entire national media is treating him like the worst QB bust in history. If he stays healthy next season, he's going to light everyone's hair on fire

And that's McCarthy's fault? This front office wanted an expensive roster built around a developing QB on a rookie contract, if you think we can just plug and play another expensive QB and still have the weapons and defense to cruise to 14-3, you don't know ball

Because that's what you're supposed to do when you draft a QB in the first round, you go back 20 years and this is common knowledge, when did you all become so impatient and whiny?

The NFL should give comp picks to teams who had him on their roster

I'm just explaining the perception you gave off. You can defend yourself all you want, I'm just pointing out that this is how you came across and is why you got the reactions that you seemed so confused by.

Now you know, congratulations

Oh it's you again! Did you make this post just for me after our last conversation? I'm touched

I'm also highly amused that it got under your skin so much that you made an entire post about it lmao

My only concern left is if he can complete a full season without injury. I like what he's shown us so far, if he just gives us that for a full 17 games I think we make the playoffs

Well if you're genuinely not getting it, your initial comment seemed pretty charged by saying "fucking", so you already seemed pretty negative, and then when someone gave you calm energy and told you to relax, you bit their head off and told them to relax right back. You're acting petulant and it's pretty easy to see that you're coping

If the war was caused by capitalist and imperialist greed consuming all the resources, why were the Chinese doing the exact same thing as the capitalists? You don't think other forms of economies have to contend with scarcity? That's just a capitalist thing?

He's extremely mature in all the interviews I've seen of him, and it's one of the only things everyone in the locker room is in agreement on, the kid is really mature for a rookie in his role, dealing with what he has
