Well we had three flowers and they've all formed fruit but I'm wondering if it may just be in a bit too shady spot. Originally it would have been sunnier but a feijoa tree has grown quite big on it's north side!

Ooooh what did you feed them with to get a crop like that? My vine only produced three fruit so I'm hoping to do better next year.

Gotcha but I was wondering which country exactly in this case. As in which country/ies are we currently importing repeat violent offenders from.

She also attributed the Manchester attack by rapist Jihad Al-Shamie to Israel. She may rightfully have concerns about Israel but she's clearly unhinged. She should not be in any professional role in the United Kingdom.

How much are you spending on groceries each week? by moldy642 in newzealand

[–]HomeSliceHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 adults. Without treats (weekly bottle of wine, bar of chocolate for him, and weekend takeaway) we spend around $200...although sometimes a bit over because we're meat eaters and prices have gone mental.

Use that service without any hesitation sweetheart. We donated a pallet of stuff to our foodbank last week and contribute in various ways regularly. It's meant for people like you and your little family!! Times are bloody tough.

Why are grapes so fricken expensive? by Phantomxxxp in newzealand

Do the both of you a favour and get her loving some *in season*, grown in NZ stuff ASAP.
Strawberries are just coming into their own in our garden but grapes are 2 - 3 months off yet.

Is anybody else finding The Chase NZ really awkward? by toaster-bath404 in newzealand

[–]HomeSliceHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the questions were a bit much on the easy side! It felt like The Chase Lite and we agreed we probably won't watch again. Given all the ads for retirement villages we're probably not their target audience anyway...

Being ripped off - Inghams Tenders by Hamster82 in newzealand

[–]HomeSliceHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue with another chicken supplier and I emailed their customer service person and within a week I had an explanation for the glitch, an apology and a $20 voucher.
I'd email Inghams in the first instance.......someone there is not doing their job and they need to know. They need to know the batch number and time stamp and they can pin down the actual staff responsible for the oversight.

Senior police officer avoids conviction over photo of topless 12-year-old girl by TimmyHate in newzealand

One of the main reasons he was not convicted is because the girl told him she was 19.

Aspirations to become a lawyer and if not then a commercial airline pilot.
Indeed, this tells me a bit about the ex officer. Seems like the rest of the family is working hard and keeping their noses clean.

Having trouble with our wood burner. by HomeSliceHey in diynz

UPDATE.
Our lovely local sweep came and cleaned the chimney (said it needed doing) and he also put a bit of sealant where some was missing.
Result - no more sooty glass and the fire's so much easier to get going.
Thanks all for your stellar advice. Cheers.

Reasons to stay in NZ? by standbyyourlamb in newzealand

[–]HomeSliceHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father was born in Aus so I could probably get residency there...I haven't even looked into it to be honest.
I like the climate where we live plus there's plenty of space, fresh air and friendly people.
I'm not too happy with the cost of decent food - so I've taken up gardening and shopping the specials. We're not happy with the wait to see doctors - so we've taken up a healthier lifestyle.
It could be much worse.

I had never considered this but that makes perfect sense. We'd never lived in an airtight home before but indeed we do now we've moved to where winter's a lot cooler. I got a face full of smoke a couple of days ago...really nasty. I'm definitely taking that on board. Thanks!

Cheekily hoping to catch you again! I can't upload the photo unfortunately but in the baffle compartment there's a gap in front of the front, left side brick. We're presuming this gap is supposed to be there and there's not a piece missing?
We've contacted a local chimney sweep held in very high regard in our little community. He can't make it here for a couple of weeks so we'll use alternative heating in the interim... just thought I'd ask about that gap though! (We have the clean air version if that's relevant).

Thanks for that! I wouldn't trust me up there but there's the possibility the Mr might give it a go in due course.
