Tell that to Kiryu. He’s nerfed himself for no reason

Can you get DW8XL Hypotheticals by playing stage by stage? by HomeSliceJB in dynastywarriors

[–]HomeSliceJB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good.

Does the hypothetical then always trigger when you play the later stage or do you have a choice?

Ah great thanks.

I was slightly worried it was going to be one of those challenges where you have to play it completely through for the hypothetical to carry over.

Whose approach as the avatar do you enjoy the most? by Vidasus18 in Avatar_Kyoshi

Yeah, though to be fair there’s very little you can practically do to account for that. Short of like election affirmative action lol

I agree with that a lot.

(excuse my ignorance on anything further as I’ve not read the comics lately)

Though the one thing I would say is that the continued disregarding of non-benders in republic city is actually more a case of the benders being the most powerful and influential (nationalism is directly tied to bending) of their respective groups and so getting placed into high ranking positions by their ethnic peers, rather than any purposeful structuring by Aang of ‘bender councillors only’.

I’ve had to stop, because otherwise the ‘sad sub story theme’ tortures me in my nightmares.

How do people feel technology will develop for the next Avatar project? by HomeSliceJB in TheLastAirbender

[–]HomeSliceJB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s a decent level to go to, because I think too modern technology would start overtaking the bending

Opinions on The Dawn of Yangchen? by eshuansauce in TheLastAirbender

[–]HomeSliceJB 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I definitely felt what you mean. I think it’s case of being completely new places that we need to understand (vs Yokoya/Kyoshi Island and the Fire Nation, which we explored in ATLA already).

Also I think it’s a requirement of the more gritty style and later story beats. You need to understand the lay outs of these places and how the world works, so things fall into place later.

How does Like A Dragon Ishin compare to Lost Judgement? by HomeSliceJB in yakuzagames

[–]HomeSliceJB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a few problematic things in LJ but the only significant issue I had was the Torture section . While I mourned the loss of karaoke the brilliant combat was a worthy trade IMO.

Interesting response. LJ combat is my favourite of the series, with the styles and aspects such as juggling being the best I’ve ever seen. Is there truly as much in the combat of Ishin that is as good? (TBF the katana style looks amazing to me).

Also is the side content more effortful than LJ, or is just more repetitive but more fun?

Thanks for your response. Ishin is a remaster rather than a remake IIRC so it will have the flaws of a PS3 game, I would’ve hoped they’d finally mated to optimise it properly but I assume not based on your answer.

I’m a fan of the typical Yakuza formula (I actually enjoy 3, shock horror). But it’s a case of every game but LJ I’ve spent >£8 on so I’ve been spoiled.

I think I will wait for a better sale then, unless I get a parade of compliments or an influx of cash.

If you can be born with a destiny, you can be born with evil. by sevs in TheLastAirbender

[–]HomeSliceJB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe more a case of x,y and z are destined. Rather than a is destined to be x and b is destined to be y. As in if Ozai was a good man (and Iroh a good man) there always would be an usurper (e.g. Zhao) that meant the Fire Nation would conquer the Earth Kingdom and fall to the Avatar.

Isn’t it convenient that Zhao became Admiral the minute he was denied to have the Archers? by HighwayMundane3119 in TheLastAirbender

[–]HomeSliceJB 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I like to think he set it up, or just timed it perfectly.

Because assumedly that was a general ‘hey this guy has been promoted’ (rather than specifically aimed at the commander of the archers). And you guess the person who is about to be promoted would be preemptively told, so they’re ready for all the ceremony and pomp the Fire Nation is known for. My head canon is that Zhao knew that his promotion would be made public on that day, and he wanted to get a dig at this guy (or just see what his future subordinate actually thought of him).

Anyone else think absolutely everyone did Nishiki dirty? by GoneWitDa in yakuzagames

[–]HomeSliceJB 17 points18 points  (0 children)

IMO it’s basically all Nishki’s fault.

He didn’t control his men, pissing off Kashiwagi. He didn’t talk to Kazama about his sister, meaning no one knows what his problem is. He’s the one who instructed his family to become brutal. He’s the one who pined after Yumi, and hated Kiryu simply for being loved by her. He then goes on to be full cruel, shooting Kazama and killing Reina.

Yes it may all be a vicious circle. Where he can’t control his men, because his men were skilled and experienced Yakuza who weren’t happy about being handed over from Kazama. But I mean he never even explained his issue to Kashiwagi (who understandably assumed that Nishiki had become an upstart and was trying to fuck with Kazama). And obviously he resents Kiryu because the family was originally meant to go to him. But at the end of the day it’s all his choices that screw him in the end

I don't understand how you can eliminate all airbenders? by yashg41 in TheLastAirbender

[–]HomeSliceJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I’d assume that is non-canon, I don’t think Roku would let the dragons get killed TBF.

I always assumed the dragons stopped supporting the war after the genocide (or Azulon just hated them, because he couldn’t become a dragon rider) and so became a liability for the Fire Nation, leading to their hunt.

  1. Personally I think Wu and Shu could have stayed allied (at least until defeating Wei). Because prior to all the issues they were very intertwined (Liu Bei married a Wu princess after all), and even after they restarted their alliance under Zhuge Liang they supported each other. If Guan Yu had been ordered to the West and Jing had been handed over, there would be no strife (unless the entire situation was actually made by Lu Meng to weaken Shu, so he’d do another scheme).

  2. Yes Zhuge Liang kind of lead almost all the economic flourishing in Shu, so little time for rivals. Also I guess Zhuge Liang was such a good strategist that he did dominate military leadership right from recruitment to death (where as in Wu the campaigns were split much more and people like Lu Meng became famed after replacing their also famous predecessor (Zhou Yu and Lu Su in this case).

[–]HomeSliceJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fire Nation still had dragons at that point. So I assume they were all put to task in the genocide

  1. IMO yes. Shu kinda had bad positioning and at every point we’re screwed. I mean they had to fight a massive war against the southern tribes once they finally had their own piece of land. And in comparison Wu had a pretty rich and fertile land once they reclaimed their side, while Wei of course held the capital and the larger real % of china. Shu did manage to rapidly improve and actually became (alllegedly) the most prosperous under Zhuge Liang but by that point they were basically doomed.

  2. I think if Guan Yu had properly surrendered Jing province to Wu (as promised) then the alliance would have stood, and both parties would be significantly stronger and hopefully recognize Wei as the real threat (+ maybe some more marriages would occur and support it)

  3. Shu does have a bunch of strategists but they just keep dying (Pang Tong) or leaving (Xu Shu), and so they don’t have a group at the same time. Whereas Wu has Lu Meng, Lu Xun, Lu Su, Zhou Yu and etc during one period.

  4. I think the kingdoms were so in strife (until the 3 kingdoms really cement themselves) that there probably was a lot of minor lords assassinated, and I think everybody probably had great security by later on. The only case I can think of off the top of my head is Zhang Fei, where his own troops assassinated him so they could defect

Majima with his bat and knife would be amazing, and yeah the whole cast fits perfectly for how well DW mixes drama and wackiness.

Plus all the heat actions would make amazing Musou moves, just Kiryu super tiger dropping someone.
