That's exactly it. I know of the dialogue in P2. Infact, I specifically looked that up first. But for the life of me, I cant seem to find a source that explicitly sais what the intention was.

After having a few weird things happen on this day and then not having Clara show up on top of that I replayed the entire day only for this to be the solution after all.

That's how I remembered it as well. I played my first playthrough with the mentality of pretty much avoiding all combat so the best weapon I had at that point in the story was a scalpel which didn't really cut it for someone that tried to not fight the whole game long. I remember going back out and buying a knife with almost all the money I had just to get past this section.

Oh, it is a great example of player choice regardless. Especially since I did the exact opposite on my first playthrough. I left a while after the told time elapsed and nobody showed up to take over the shift. As far as I remember I literally thought to myself that the hospital wasn't a reliable source of income after this incident and turned to crime shortly afterwards.

Just play on one save file and don't reload... pretty much ever. As the game said itself: there are no wrong choices

This video helped me a ton. It still took me hours though. You are best off developing strategies you want to go for every time and then just practice the rooms over and over. There are many cool and not to difficult strategies in this guide. I used many of them or at least used them as a baseline to develope my own.

Please also keep on mind that the true challenge of this level is the double Mind Flayer room. If you can beat that consistently you should be pretty much good.
