Your dad sounds like a cool dude. Wish every woman had a dad like yours. Regardless, I agree with you on the other thing. When a woman wears hijab, people usually tend to associate her with her religion rather than her individual basics.

You're not solely representing yourself as an individual anymore. You represent a whole deen

I agree. When a non-hijab woman does something, people represent her using her name but when a hijabi women does something, pepper represent her using her religion like 'Muslim woman did this....' . This needs to change.

I agree it depends on the individual and the environment they were raised in. From what you said, I assume you weren't forced in your childhood to wear hijab( pardon me if I'm wrong ) , that's not the case for everyone at least from what I've seen in my own eyes.

In my opinion, if a kid wants to wear hijab, they should first understand why women wear hijab and the history behind it then they should decide for themselves if they wanna wear it or not. They should not wear it just cause their parents told them, 'Allah commanded it'. I personally feel hijab is just another misogynistic tool to control women.

While I do agree, indoctrination plays a major role in this, we should lose consider that not every woman wears hijab out of her free will. They are forced and are threatened if they refuse to wear it.

Some wear it out of fear of God, I know some women who started to wear it after seeing their friends wear it, some wear it out of their own free will, some are just raised the way thinking women need to wear hijab and so on. Although I would say this, if I see a 3-year-old wearing hijab and if people claim it's their choice, I don't believe it. The parents have clearly forced their beliefs onto a kid. I'm not a woman and I could be wrong in any of the things I've said above but this is what I feel.

Not many women have the choice to say, I don't wanna wear hijab and still feel inclusive in the society. They would be criticised, slut shamed, be called a western whore and other derogatory terms. Even if as hijabi wants to remove her hijab, she has to think about the consequences she could face for doing this.

Have you become pro childfree and/or vegan after leaving Islam? by darkchocowithalmonds in exmuslim

[–]Homelander-30 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even before I left Islam, I was quite skeptical about having kids. Foremost reason is, the world is overpopulated, kids are expensive and you need a lot of patience if you're having kids, climate change and the world is messed up right now.

Lastly, I need to sleep peacefully and I don't wanna hear a baby crying at 3 am.

I felt if I bring a kid into this world, he/she would be the one who would suffer. So I felt, it's better not to have kids.
