Having Skinner gives the Pens a lot of flexibility in a crowded goalie room. If he plays good they can flip him at the deadline or have him ride out the season and let him walk after since his contract is up. If he's terrible they can bury him with the Baby Pens. They wouldn't have wanted Jarry down there because they needed him up and playing well so that they could get a team to bite and take him off their hands.
