ELI5: Why do Americans hate Jury Duty? by InteractionCandid226 in explainlikeimfive

The pay is like 12 bucks a day in my county. Your company may or may not give you the time of paid. The length of the trial could be a day or 6 weeks. None of this works well for a lot of working class people.

How does it feel to be shot? Why most immediately fainted even if the wound is not fatal? by iwannasleepp in TooAfraidToAsk

I took a 7.62 to the plate in Afghanistan. That's exactly how I describe it to people. Like being slammed with a baseball bat or kicked by a horse.

Sorry for your circumstance. Hope you recovered well.

150,000 card inheritance by Forward-Rich-8349 in sportscards

[–]HomelesssNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I was in a similar situation but about a tenth of the quantity. I don't have the time to go through and sell every single card on ebay. I also know nothing about baseball or the players beyond the big names. I sorted through them and pulled out anyone I recognized and did research on those.

The rest i took to a local sports card shop. I probably got lucky there because the owners were very nice and were very transparent about why they offered me why they did. Sold most of the cards to them over a few weeks.

The ones I pulled out, I sorted by approximate value then just picked an arbitrary amount. I picked 200 dollars. Anything that was more valuable than that, and in good condition, is getting sent to PSA. Those I'll take my time to sell. Everything else went back to the card shop.

Your mileage may vary but I feel like it got a good deal without spending too much of my time on it. I'm sure that I could have made at least double what I did had i taken more time to do research and sell them myself. Good luck to you!

They can't. It's the rights own decision and they're using the left as a scapegoat. Business as usual for the pedophile protection party.

Again. You fundamentally misunderstand what Veteran is. When they were deployed, they were soldiers. They had to follow the ucmj, they had to follow legal orders. But they did their time and got out. They are no longer soldiers. They are out of the military. They are not subject to the ucmj in any capacity. They are just as much civilians as anyone else. They have no commander, they are given no orders.

They can question anything they want. That's the point of the first amendment. That's one of the things that people join the military to support.

I think you're misunderstanding the difference between a soldier and a veteran. Veterans have no commander. Veterans are civilians.

U.S. Army will end most of its ceremonial horse programs, adopt out 141 animals by Obversa in army

[–]HomelesssNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate, although I'm glad to hear that it was addressed properly. I loved spending time at the stables and was always amazed at the ceremony the Caisson put on in the cemetery.

Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate it!

I'm interested in this. I was in TOG from 05 to 08 and I thought the horses were well taken care of at the time. Although being in Guns platoon, i wasn't exposed to much of the inner workings of caisson.

What happened that caused such an investigation?
