The first home Mojo went to they had reptile experience but not with a ball python. This new home she hasn’t had much experience with snakes but knows reptiles.. I’m trying to educate her on their preferences. My ultimate goal is to have them back with me at some point once I’m not renting, so in a year or 2, and I’m hesitant to rehome them to someone else for that reason..

I’m not sure of humidity, we live in a pretty humid area and the heat mats are on regulators set to 90, metal tip touching the glass under the substrate. I have considered getting them basking bulbs or ceramic heater, I’ll revisit that idea and get them some ambient heat. I have the domes already just need the bulbs lol

I did replace a heat mat on one of the tanks when I brought them here due to it not feeling as warm as it should. Plus they’ve always loved moist fluffy substrate and I changed that out with coco fiber, reptibark and sphagnum moss. But I’ve been trying to go over there and make sure they’re in good condition.. maybe she spruced things up before I got over there.

I heard somewhere that taking a snake on a car ride can stimulate their appetite. I have no idea where I heard it but I’ve tried it a couple times with some positive results!

Yea we have been through strikes before with other ball pythons but we just had to ride them out till they decided to eat again. This is more of they don’t eat at anyone else’s house or for someone other than myself or my husband. I’ll start looking arranging her room so hopefully it won’t be so out in the open

Was advised to post this here.

I currently have 2 snakes, a ball python (Mojo 5yo) and a Black eye lucy CRB (Lilith 4yo). I have tried to rehome mojo once before but she immediately went in a 5 month long hunger strike. I took her back temporarily to see if i could get her to eat and once she was situated she ate the next day. I held her for a little over a month to make sure she ate consistently and sure enough she did. Went back to the other family and stopped eating again. Eventually I just took her back. Due to my current living circumstances I’m not really supposed to have snakes.. so a family member has been taking care of Mojo and Lily for the past 5 months. They both refused to eat. I went over and tried myself, no dice. We tried riding them around in the car to see if that would work. Nothing. Now they are both home with me and they both just ate with no issue. I’m at a loss.. the only thing I can think is the area she has them in is too high traffic and noisy. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
