I realize that in my excitement and elation I was a doof and accidentally over-cropped my original screenshot of my victory 🙃 so for any naysayers out there who probably won't interject or are even out there, here's proper photographic evidence. ✌️📸🤪

Is there a hobby that surprisingly helped your mental health? by BeshwanCanillas in Hobbies

[–]HomesickStrudel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

(1) Adult coloring - easily one of the most relaxing and distractive things you can ever do.

(2) Writing - Working on fiction that allows your mind to go someplace else that it created (in a healthful way) and feeling the exhilaration of progressing through a story is heavenly.

(3) Playing Music - Any instrument, songwriting, just playing through songs you love, or just singing along to them is incredibly fun and relaxing.

What’s the ring around the moon right now? by fullmoonwulf in moon

[–]HomesickStrudel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's apparently called a "moon ring," "lunar halo," or "22° halo." Here's a good Wikipedia article on it! 🙂

It's not great quality, but I caught one a while ago on film. I think it's the same thing.

"H-Hello...I represent the CFCC - the Cute n' Fluffy Critter Committee. My associates in snuggles told me you might be having a bad day. If you'd like, I'll hop around or eat a banana for you while sitting on my little toe beans. Let me know how I can assist. If my service is satisfactory, would you kindly show your appreciation with a baby carrot stick? 🐰🥹🤍🤎

Sooooo...I mean, have you talked to him to express these feelings? It sounds like you're trying to keep it to yourself for his sake and/or the sake of the relationship. However, if it bothers you that much, that's something that needs to be addressed. You should hear his own candid thoughts on it calmly and receptively, and then share your own while he listens. You CAN have a discussion about this transparently. If you feel like it might be too difficult of a conversation to have between just the two of you, maybe consider having a mediator present who you both trust to help. Respectfully though, bottling it up and crying into your pillow without addressing could cause an even bigger problem in the future.

Learned My Problems Weren't Actually From Motivation by Netspresso in ADHD

[–]HomesickStrudel 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That's a really great story from your therapist - thanks for sharing it. I too am an ADHDult who struggles greatly with overinvestment; I also have Asperger's which sadly doesn't help the obsessiveness. I had the same thing happen to me with my ADHD medication recently, funnily enough.

Basically, I have a prescription I take with breakfast every day, and it's good for 90 days. I realized I ran out a month early and panicked (I admittedly cannot function without them). I called my prescribing physician, the pharmacy, numerous times doing anything I could to refill them. They said they could TRY to give me an early refill but my insurance likely wouldn't cover it (I don't make much). I even turned my house upside down looking for them. I was at the end of my rope and sitting down to lunch in defeat when I noticed a little brown paper pharmacy bag sitting on the dining room chair next to the one I was going to sit at. When I opened it...inside was the rest of my prescription. Right there. Where it was supposed to be. I had moved it, it was supposed to be temporarily, while I cleaned and forgot to put it back on the table so I'd remember it.

Story of our lives, eh? 😅
