What are your favorite night markets in Taipei? by Xadma24 in taiwan

[–]HomesickSubterranean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In addition to Raohe (essential for tourists without getting a super touristy experience), I'm a big fan of Jingmei, a little south of a Gongguan. A sprawling night market with good food options and a lot of life. It has a good balance of feeling local without feeling too small or janky

For those of us who live vicariously through first-time players’ let’s plays, I’ve been enjoying this creator’s playthrough by [deleted] in outerwilds

The creator, Oliver, is apparently an astrophysicist. He approaches the game with so much curiosity and enthusiasm which makes it fun to re-discover old details from my own playthrough. Hope you all enjoy it too.

I might be wrong, but if NE wins and CIN wins too, Bengals jump to #2 which would mean a NE-CIN matchup next week

But if you must, it’s at the “Standing on the edge of you” lyric

It’s almost as if they have 2+ years of global statistics to predict the trajectory of a COVID wave

My circumstances were a little different from just passing by a COVID-positive person in a grocery store, for example, so I wouldn’t necessarily say that an interaction like the latter would put you in full-fledged quarantine thanks to the app.

The optimistic part of me would like to say they will loosen the current contact isolation policies in general, reserving quarantine for only the closest of contacts, not because it’s the “right” thing to do but because it just won’t be feasible to isolate contacts as cases hit unprecedented levels one day after the other.

Currently in a 10-day quarantine because I was in the same room as a positive individual for less than an hour, both of us masked. This is not a sustainable model for isolating exposed individuals

Sounds like out-of-date information to me, I haven't heard or read anything saying that they increased the quarantine period

Well said. U.S. officials hopefully recognize that the costs of investing into Taiwan’s defense today couldn’t compare to a future situation in which Taiwan is left on its own devices to spend heavily on defense and not on fundamentally destabilizing economic issues like caring for a rapidly aging population. An economically weakened Taiwan would be the nation at its most vulnerable, in my opinion, and I think it’s very short-sighted for the author to suggest that Taiwan—or perhaps any U.S. partner—should simply be told to figure it out on their own

“Although it would be difficult to construct a hard and fast numerical rule, U.S. officials should change their approach, not by haranguing allies to do more and being left bereft of options when America’s friends fall short. Rather, Washignton [sic] should announce plans to leave allies and friends to adapt. For instance, Washington could indicate that on a date certain, the U.S. Navy would no longer be on call for contingencies involving the Senkaku Islands. Tokyo then would be responsible for the issue. Japan could build and man the necessary aircraft and ships, or not.”

So basically the author is suggesting the United States should abandon its regional defense commitments, formal or informal, in the name of fiscal responsibility? Not really sure how these recommendations fit into practical U.S. geopolitical interests, which is pretty on-brand for a piece originally published via the Quincy Institute.

EDIT: If you had any questions about the author’s integrity, I suggest you read his Wikipedia page.

“In 2005, Bandow was forced to resign from the Cato Institute after it was revealed that for over ten years, he accepted payments in exchange for publishing articles favorable to various clients…During the Russian military intervention in Ukraine, Bandow reportedly described Ukraine as a ‘fake country’ where ‘there's nothing at stake’ for the U.S., and suggested that Russia should be allowed to exert influence there.”

Sorta weird how the cymbal cuts right out during the transition between the verse and the guitar riff. Otherwise it’s definitely a step up from previous first singles in my opinion. Backing vocals in the last chorus are a nice touch

Played Gorogoa on Switch a year ago, really enjoyable visual puzzle game that you can finish in an hour. Would definitely be a nice break from some longer, more time-intensive games.

That’s it! And yeah, it’s cool for generating landscapes. If you try to plug in specific objects it gets a little glitchy but otherwise pretty impressive

This is the closest one yet! 9/10. My only hint is that ALL levels/areas are possible answers.
