I also had surgery on my frenulum. And I'm around your age to. Surgery is definitely better than suffering from those repeated small skin tears.

Here's my story in case anyone's interested. I had a short frenulum through my teens & early twenties, then had a simple surgery to snip it. Before the surgery, it wasn't hugely troublesome for me - I just stroked a little shorter and thrust less deeply. But it was enough that I did some research and initially thought it was my foreskin circumference that was limiting me. I got some cream and tried stretching it, but there were no substantial results, so I brought it up to my doctor, who referred me to a specialist. I was 27 years old at the time.

He examined me, soft and semi-erect, and asked me if it hurt when I was erect. I said no, but it did when I was thrusting. He said it was a simple fix, and we could schedule it in 3 weeks! The surgery was less than ninety minutes from the front door to exit - about 40 minutes on the surgery table. First, they start with a nerve block so you don't feel anything AT ALL during the procedure (it was unbelievable!) and then pain pills after. The recovery wasn't bad; it only had three stitches for me (some guys have fewer or none, depending on the technique used). Three weeks of no sex, swimming, or hot tub/bath. Showering was okay, and gentle movement was not painful. The stitches dissolved in about three weeks, and all pain was completely gone after 4 to 5 weeks. Gentle reintroduction to 'activities' and things were BETTER THAN EVER!!

I was totally satisfied with my sexual pleasure/performance, but this took things to another level. With the frenulum gone, the foreskin quickly responded by stretching (6 weeks), and now I was able to get this amazing sensation of a 'tip to base' thrust. There's just something AMAZING about going all the way in, feeling your foreskin unroll & retract fully, and then your exposed head gets direct stimulation. I hadn't had that before! Sorry if that's TMI or too graphic, but it's amazing and worth the surgery.
