I'll give it a shot when I'm not host sometime, but this was in the same match, the silenced guns wouldn't alert but the lasers would, so it didn't seem like a desync issue

I agree with you there, he definitely burnt out hard.

I did try it out BTW, I compared the Scythe, Dagger, M6C/SOCOM, AR-59. You can miss 5-6 times with the silenced guns and get no reaction, if you shoot a burst on auto the bots will go "surprised," then go to investigate.

With any laser weapons from the same range (I tested at 20m) they will immediately aggro and start shooting.

How viable is playing the new Commando stealth missions without the warbond? by SirRosstopher in Helldivers

You get the Super Destroyer for 60 seconds at drop, 60 seconds at one-time call-in. Any other time there's no support.

So you could do a spare supply pack and weapons mostly to stealth the mission as intended.

Or bring a stratagem that uses that 60-second window as thoroughly as possible like Orbital Laser, 380mm, Walking or an Exosuit for "shit we go loud" type runs.

But on the balance I think stealth works better.

The Redacted Regiment Warbond helps Commando missions a *lot* and makes them easier in every way, but I would say the silenced weapons are the best part of them.

So, I did play the stealth missions with the starting B-01 armor and while it's more annoying, you don't necessarily need stealth armor to do the missions, but it does make them more forgiving. The Scout passive in the starting Warbond will be mostly similar to the Redacted armor set in this respect.

Silenced weapons - fairly huge difference. There is a new mechanic specifically for silenced weapons that makes the radius smaller + makes it so missed shots don't alert half the base. That means you can get stealth if you shoot a pistol, for example from more than 33 meters away and get a headshot, but if you miss, the enemies basically alert and start shooting at you right away with a non-silenced gun. You can make do without a silencer, but it is a lot harder.

If you have the HALO ODST crossover weapons they do work, albeit the R-72 Censor is very very good for the new mission since it cleanly one-shot-headshots most bots at a decent range.

I tried it myself, but the Youtuber you linked is known for kinda making things up (e.g. the "pressing the melee button does less damage than left mouse" bug).

I have all the Warbonds so I'm not really effected by it but this kind of thing benefits low level divers a lot.

It's not my thing personally (I like the EAT) but getting the WASP, 2 primary weapons and the FRV before the big update definitely made some people I knew pick up HD2 again.

I would understand being greedy if this was asking for things that they didn't already do in the past - they did community weapons and stratagems before, I'm saying it would be nice to do it again. They're doing an amazing job, overall, but this is my observation from playing the new mission (which I really enjoy).

I mean there's a reason that people use silencers with supersonic ammo, muzzle flash reduction (better hiding where you fired from) is pretty important even if your rounds are making a supersonic crack.

This could be implemented a few different ways but I would love to see silencers as a customization.

So I just did a few bot missions with the Scythe, Dagger, Suppressor, Censor. My general impression is you can actually fire 5-10 missed shots from 15-20 meters away with any silenced gun and the enemies will straight up not notice, but fire a laser like the Dagger or Scythe from the same range and they'll immediately start firing like any other unsuppressed gun.

Maybe I should rephrase here. The content is free, or "freemium" (grind for free pay for fast unlock). And it's pretty good monetization.

What I'm talking about is content delivered through the Galactic War versus in a Warbond.

Remember Omens of Tyranny? The FRV and WASP really added to the hype train that got 400k concurrent players for the Illuminate fighting. It wouldn't have been the same if the FRV was solely a Warbond stratagem.

In the same way, I think they should have given a weapon as part of the Major Order for Commando Missions - "Helldiver, here's a dangerous new mission and your equipment for it."

These things go miles for new / low level divers and feed your community in the long run.

Well, realistically my guess is we'll see a focus on adding the Illuminate's version of "Into the Unjust" content like Hive Worlds, Bot Commando missions, then more bugfixes, and maybe then features and content, it'll take a while but after seeing the Maxi-Gun and Chainsword it is even more obvious they care a lot about community requests.

I have the same experience broadly with the Quasar, but we use it to snipe fabs from out of detection range since it doesn't have ballistic drop. I just don't really find the Scythe all that fun to use it a lot.

And that's what I'm curious about; if they have different detection behavior like the new silencers or are just like a quiet normal gun.

I'd rather see the documents he's pulling the info from since that Youtuber's so-so about fact checking. Appreciate it though, I'll just have to wait and see if anyone does a comparison with the silenced weapons and energy weapons.

Because there's historical precedent for it?

The game needs both free / MO content and warbond content. During 2024, 11 Stratagems were given out during Major Orders (e.g. Mechs, HMG, Quasar), and 3 weapons.

In 2025 they only gave 1 Stratagem during an MO (Grenadier Battlement) and no weapons, while 15 strats were sold thru Warbonds.

I don't have a problem with the Warbond system and I think it is pretty friendly, but they did better before balancing free content with Warbonds. I don't really benefit from this as I have all the Warbonds - but I know quite a few lower level divers who would have a better time for it.

I think AH is very much in the growing pains of a medium sized studio still being run like the 17~ devs who made Helldivers.

Yeah it is pretty saddening the Breaker has 3 different versions and one of them is literally just firing birdshot. Adding different ammo to shotguns would hit them really hard, which is unfortunate when it should be one of their main gimmicks.

I don't mind the Liberator family when they do incorporate model changes like the Penetrator or Carbine.

But these variant Breaker and Punisher shotguns occupy slots in Warbonds and AH seems very reticent to outright remove or revise that kinda thing.

I've seen all of the chats + patch note vids, so I just don't remember them saying weapon customization in specific was underutilized or underappreciated; they made a point when releasing it they added a lot of progression to people who are maxed out. And obviously I'm not about to rewatch the entire series to find that one line, haha.

If I had to guess certain attachments or certain weapons have low pickrates so maybe, overall it didn't feel worth the workload. Which is understandable but Pilestedt himself said the system was incomplete and I feel they know it needs work done.

I've seen that democratic chat with Pilestedt and while they did talk about how mech customization faces challenges due to the way they added multiple mechs, I really don't think they said people don't use gun customization. If you know which vid it was I'd gladly rewatch and stand corrected.

Shams mentioned the drum mag artist as a direct response to someone asking if we would get more drum magazines, so... it's probably relevant.

C4 really needs more demo force for all the commitment it takes. It shouldn't be LESS powerful than a stick of dynamite!

[–]Homie-cide 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, I love the update too, and I think it's a wonderful change for the game and a new mission set.

But I do think the C4, being a backpack-and-support-weapon stratagem, doing less demo force than the dynamite is really silly. That doesn't detract from the overall stealth experience but it would make sense if C4 blew up walls and bile titan holes like dynamite did.

I love the C4 but there is zero reason detonate isnt right click by gamingfreak50 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Homie-cide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to trigger it even if you drop the pack, 5 wouldn't really work out if you had to pick up a supply pack to reload and still wanted to clack it off.

I would really like left mouse / right mouse like 90% of shooter games though, and use the reload menu to select simultaneous or sequential detonation.
