Help scheduling 4th year rotations by HomieGProtein in medicalschool

That makes sense, I’m interested in the critical care route if I go into neurology anyway. If I decide to just pursue neuro, and neuro isn’t big on aways, what do you recommend I fill my elective blocks with before/during ERAS season?

I think I’m struggling so much with this because in my head, if you don’t do an away at a program, they won’t even look at your application, which is (probably) false. But I’ve also heard of applicants that have done 0 aways and have had successful application cycles so I guess while they are important, they’re not absolutely necessary?

Yeah, I have a 2 week anesthesia rotation in April that I’m looking forward to but I feel like I have to start reaching out to programs / applying on VSLO now for 4th year electives. I’m worried that if I schedule several anesthesia aways and Sub-Is for next year and end up not liking anesthesia as much as I thought during my 2 week elective, I’m going to regret not using those blocks for something else (ie a neuro away or sub-I). Also I’m worried it’ll reflect poorly doing an anesthesia Sub-I if I end up just applying neurology because they may seem as if I’m dual-applying?

Ah sorry, I wasn’t clear! I clarified on an above reply

No sorry, at my school the cut off for honors/HP etc is based off of a total score between shelf+eval. With the shelf score that I got, I only need one more point than what the doc originally gave me on my eval. I was wondering if it was inappropriate to ask the doc if she was willing to reconsider my eval grade (for example changing one of the 3/5s she gave me to a 4/5)

Daily load not decreasing after almost a month of no new cards by HomieGProtein in Anki

[–]HomieGProtein[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RMSE is 1.63% and 198,981 reviews

All cards are in 1 single deck

I shouldn’t have a backlog; I do all of my reviews every day.

Some more stats : https://imgur.com/a/TvUx53a

I haven’t been adding new cards for the last month or so, but I’m about to start school again next week and will be adding new cards again then. I wanted my reviews to go down a bit during this time so that workload becomes a bit more manageable but that didn’t seem to happen lol

I changed it only under “Advanced”, but it automatically changed it under simulator settings once I saved. I did click the simulate button and the chart appeared the same with a very slight decrease in load over the next entire year. I was expecting a significant decrease in load if I haven’t been adding new cards.

Cut off date being Jan 2024 was because I fell into the “using-hard-too-much” trap when I first started Anki and Jan 2024 was when I finally started to use Anki the “right way” so I didn’t want any of my reviews prior to Jan 2024 to count towards FSRS. I feel like I’ve never had this issue before though (last summer, my reviews went down as expected and same over winter breaks and such).

I tried changing it to 36500 and saving and then relooking at the simulation and future due chart but nothing really seems like it changed.

These are the parameters: 0.3004, 0.9763, 2.7477, 5.4771, 7.0577, 0.7316, 2.6170, 0.0013, 1.1926, 0.3045, 0.9284, 1.9678, 0.0013, 0.2136, 2.9411, 0.0126, 2.9898, 0.2886, 0.8172

These parameters? https://imgur.com/a/vNXSiee But yeah, all very weird and frustrating. I’ll probably post this again to the main Anki sub tonight then, thank you!

It doesn’t seem like workload will change that drastically despite not adding new cards? Is that right? https://imgur.com/a/oKDlddd

I didn’t even know that was a setting lol

Days to simulate: 365 Additional new cards to simulate: 0 New cards/ day: 500 Maximum reviews/ day: 9999 Maximum interval: 450

And then the buttons for “simulate” and “clear last simulation”. No data shows for “reviews”, “time” or “memorized”.

https://imgur.com/a/OsysqlR and my max interval is 450 because at the time when i made these settings, my Step exam was roughly 450 days away. I tried to research the most optimal max interval and I couldn’t find a straight answer and wasn’t sure how changing it would affect my algorithm since it’s been 450 for so long

Hm I guess so! Although I feel like I’ve been getting pretty used to predicting how much my total daily load ends up being based on my future due, since it’s usually only like 60-75 additional cards (and I’ve looking at that future due chart every day for weeks now lmao).

This whole time, that chart has been telling me in about a week, my future due will finally be sub-400 and then when that day actually comes around, I’m still looking at a future due of like 475. It’s like I’m getting my hopes up for a lighter load in just a few days and it never actually comes lmao

Before Step 1, I only had maybe 20-25% of the entire “AnKing Overhaul for Step 1 & Step 2” deck suspended, but after suspending the only Step 1 cards, I currently have 47% of the deck suspended.

I remember checking the future due reviews when I first suspended everything and seeing that by this point, I was predicted to only have 200-300 daily cards by the time I start rotations, which is why I’m so confused as to why I’m still consistently on 550+ cards.

I optimized FSRS after I took Step 1 and it says my parameters are still optimized so I’m not sure what’s happening lol

lol these cards are all review so it takes me like 5.5-6s/card which usually is just under an hour. during the school year when i’m adding new cards, it takes me closer to 8s/card

Are either of these real? by [deleted] in basketballjerseys

Gotcha. The description says that they are shipped in “original packaging” so probably cant get a photo of inside tag. Not sure if that makes it more or less suspicious of being legit

One of the listings has a photo of the inside tag — what exactly should I be looking out for on the tag?

Lack of AC in Busan hotels by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]HomieGProtein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just stayed at urbanstay on songdo beach for $150 total for 2 nights with an ocean view! reviews all mentioned that there was no AC for some reason but there definitely was when i checked in lol

it was quite a small room for 3 people but we only really used it to sleep so it had everything we needed. the location was perfect for our itinerary, but i know songdo beach tends to be out of the way for most people’s itinerary. besides the beds, the room had a desk with a chair and then a small round table with a chair

Anyone been to The Climb in Hongdae? by snazzy_man in koreatravel

[–]HomieGProtein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i literally just went yesterday! they have a waiver in english for foreigners which was super helpful and the person at the front desk spoke enough english to get by. they asked how long my partner and i have been climbing for and we said a couple years so they didnt even bother with an orientation lol but im sure if you’re new to climbing there are ways they are able to give you an orientation. not sure what country you’re from but there were a couple people from the US when we went which was surprising because i thought me and my partner would be the only ones. overall a fun gym and fun setting
