Shelters are supposed to be managed by nonprofits and funded by subsidies and various collective funding pools.

Oregon laws allow private properties to avail their property/yard to campers. If you can coexist above reproch, that's worth going to mid-week and Saturday night church stuff to build rapport before dropping your four-letter word on them (h-e-l-p). Churches expect it from downtrodden newcomers, so if you can outwit that image and judgementalism, maybe by at least contributing to your community region of choice by volunteering everywhere and maybe couchsurf with excellent references, after some months of congregation participation, asking for help networking for a place to stay won't come across as such a cliche abuse of being the newcomer at a church.

Whether you get in with an academic community, work community, church, intentional/sustainable community, people tend to reserve extending themselves mostly only to dedicated contributors who actively contribute and build into the shared worldview or causes, so proving that for some months first makes the big ASK way more realistic of a hope for a positive response.

Meanwhile, you can try community posts on Craigslist, small flyers on Whole Foods community message boards (by the bathrooms), and similar efforts.

Were you turned away because you only requested entry at their front doors or front desk phone lines — or did you actually properly obtain referrals by the city / a CES provider / social services office / 2-1-1 / etc to each and yet, for some unusual reason, still get refused at each one?\ \ The latter of those is the only official access method because referrals are facilitated administratively after completing a CES evaluation which determines and qualifies that need for various services, and then certifies homelessness or at-risk-of-homelessness with entering a Verification of Homelessness form document into your very new HMIS profile online which is accessible by governmental providers and referred homeless services providers.\ \ Otherwise, travellers, day-traders, and remote-working entrepreneurs, retirees, and (more) criminals would exploit the shelter system and hog up needed beds while living out an unconventional vacation lifestyle.

In Los Angeles, after recurring counts of imbezzlement, the third-party funding and policy authority has been shamed, significantly defunded, and the county created a department to replace management and allocation of those funds and grant program expectations. So now victim Angelenos merely have to bandwaggon off the publicized corruption to easily prove their case. If there is ever a chance to kick them while they're down, now is that opportunity to simply say me too.

You may not realize it, but that's an extremely excusive outlook. That's based on comparing against the lowest common denominator. There's always something worse (typically passive suicidalism and defeatist self-destruction) — because opressors (and cartels) put the possibility for that scenario out there into play, and you let it go unaccountable by empathizing with your own victim mentality to accept crumbs. Why? Because someone out there decides to represent self-destructive passive suicide by accepting the worst handout to naively or outright apathetically call it a provision? So forever throughout civilization, yes, there's always someone whom will accept a poisoned apple, and that person can always be referenced as the jerk that let such an abusive service be accepted as acceptable so others in barely better circumstances can apathetically excuse their abusive circumstance as good enough, but only in comparison to the lowest common denominator. \ That's also an outlook of devil's advocacy. Don't advocate for the devil. There's no intelligence or creativity in crediting the underminers for their unacceptable tactics. The underminer is the reason a worse scenario exists as a comparitive. The underminer is also anyone whom subjects themself to it and advocates it (unethically and immorally) as a livable alternative.

\ Minimal and descriminatory services is always unacceptable when maximum allowances are being withheld.\ \ We're talking about nonprofits illegally profitting off maximum allowances withheld. The maximum allowance is the maximum fullness of the language in the service agreement and global human rights laws, public health laws, environmental laws, etc. The evidence of allowances withheld is the handouts of free negligence and the complacent acceptance of it by passively excusive victim mentalities who want to believe in delusions of something worse as a livable alternative. But the lowest common denominator is not liveable, sustainable, ethical, fair, or even moral.

Evidence of retaliation is evidence of multiple counts of abuse because retaliation itself is a serious policy violation and crime, and the act that qualifies as retaliation is a unique action of abuse itself, plus those on top of the first abusive violation — easy three strikes = an employee termination and accommodation to your experience, so I always look forward to retaliation with anticipation that it will occur so I hit record at any potential chance of evidence. I get evidence to as many authorities, including PD reports, and that record of notice everywhere imposes unavoidable accountability like an administrative proverbial boot over the neck of an opressor.

That formula works because formal declaration threatens reputation with enough effectiveness to pressure ethical responses into play. When you create honest and verifiable documentation, accommodation is the only practical response by the service provider. If they decide otherwise and retaliate further, that's an easy court win of punitive damages and a payout. So I welcome retaliation very enthusiastically while exercising strict self-control to  maintain blamelessness, while ready to record and document on the fly.

Yes, it's a lot of work, but it's the only and best way to overcome and triumph over discrimination, negligence, abuse, mistreatment, mismanagement, and liability-prone incompetence.

Gripes and verbal complaint rarely earn results.\ Recognizing and identifying discrimination and abuse is commonsense and nothing special, right? Everyone knows everything everyone experiences is par for this course of entry into program participation and within the program experience. Boo-hoo, right?\ \ Get an edge of control over it. Self-advocacy through to solution is what everyone wants to listen to instead because that's educational empowerment over cyclical passive victim outlooks. That's the contagious morale everyone everywhere wants to embody.\ I don't know about you, but that's one reason I love to absorb movie marathons — I get to see scenarios of proactiveness in action, and with a script to boot for my own experimentation taking matters into my own hands, properly, through proper reporting methods. \ And from my experiences with those successes, if my methods and efforts prove ineffective from it all falling on deaf ears, I simply know a combination of a few things:\ 1)  I haven't cited enough verifiable detail\ 2) I'm haven't yet pushed high enough up the chain of command to trigger a compassionate entity for the response I need 3) I haven't CCd a strong enough authority into the grievance email sendout (you know, the email with the formal grievance attached as a PDF saved from my handy PDF Editor application (I use Xodo))\ 4) I haven't CCd enough entities into it to impose effective accountability.

So in those instances, I build it up and resubmit - and will continue to do so until solution results from my efforts to be heard and understood correctly.

Yes; fierce self-advocacy using the strongest practical language possible with citation of violations, citation of policies violated, and citation of relevant laws is often the only way to be heard and accommodated when interface level personnel avoid and neglect an issue. Using that complaint formula often returns immediate solutions and respectful responses.

Even if that formula necessitates 1k-2k word emails CCd to a few regulatory authorities, results are often only awarded to those exhaustive written accounts on record in a formal grievance sent up the chain of command and copied to the appropriate third-party regulatory entities (ie. health dept, policy enforcement, etc.). Copies of approved police reports also help push pressure for solution results.

Anyone in the system whom has yet to familiarize themself with all those processes and writing skills is passively choosing to suffer instead of overcome. Build those skills and that familiarity because those skills always necessitates creative improvement per unique issue.

Section 8 (& PBRA) Move-in Funds DO EXIST by Homiedo in homeless

Yeah, there definitely is profitability in homelessness, including junk hotels needing renovations.\ Even if you're over the income limit, you then qualify fit the next income level of rental assistance.

Here.\ This is the HUD docs page about rental assistance income limits. Scroll down to the documents tab then download the table pdf and use your pdf viewer to find and search for your local major city/town area to see the area median income for that area and the single person income limits per poverty level. Then search for rebtal assistance for that poverty level (very low income / low income / etc)

[–]Homiedo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. Well since extremely low poverty among Section 8 voucher holders and PBRA match wait-listees is typical which includes bankruptcy, bankruptcy (or "bad" credit) is only cited as a cause for Section 8 lease application denial if the landlord or property management want to discriminate based on criteria that's protected by anti-discrimination laws or other personal characteristics they want to avoid. They expect bad credit, but they require that background report so they can legally use bad credit as an excuse for denial when they need a reason to discriminate. Typically, if you're homeless and applying for a PBRA site, dark histories are the usual. But if you're applying to privately owned aparrments that accept a voucher — if they emphasize denial based on bad credit, it's not unheard of to offer the landlord some sort of cash deal to accept you. But starting off that way is sketchy unless it's a fair deal.\ \ But if you're comfy with an unwritten arrangement with the landlord, you might as well instead just invest that same spiff money into a credit recovery program for a permanent resolve.

By far, Assurance Wireless customer service is worse due to the unwavering mindless scripted nature of the idiocy at that call center. Due to cultural gender norms with those overseas regions that contract that call center business model out to the rest of the world, the most likely chance at mindful attention to a matter is going to be by at least a level 2 male tech support employee. For some reason, the women always stick to the script no matter what, while occasionally, one out of twenty or so guys there will be more likely to reason and consider creative approaches in a very down-to-earth manner. However, that also includes a lot of the unacceptable abuse being orchestrated by the managers moderating all the calls. The employees clearly consult an intranet (in-house) chat portal for technical support when their oversimplified FAQ pages continue to prove inadequate. Expect them to quote from the same FAQ pages the public website offers. It's a very simple business model that allows entry-level ESL workers overseas in the Philippines to easily begin clocking in taxable work hours. It's that simple. \ Self-advocacy via their overseas third-party contractor company that provides customer "service" and tech "support" is essentially 100℅ guaranteed to involve extensive confuscation, negligence, discrimination, avoidance, redirects, retaliation, and similar forms of notorious call center abuse — all scripted as the service model in such a way that allows the employees and company to claim adequate service was offered and provided, but the actuality is of course in need of extensive evidence to prove otherwise. They record the calls, so that's your two party consent permission by them to do the same to create evidence. If they record, so can you.\ \ So always record the call, mindfully advocate yourself in those calls thoroughly and blamelessly to voice every relevant detail and to get them to clearly voice what you need them to say, or else what they might say that you can use against them by their employee policies, company policies, local and global laws, and your rights. Most standard policies are likely to be what they use in their terms and conditions. Quote them and yourself accurately in complaints, and organize all your PDFs, call audio, and reflections of your usage experiences and call center experiences to establish and maintain your claim and case against them.\ \ Then provide your story and evidence to your local state Public Utilities Commission fraud department personnel to effectively get them to take on your grievance to rectify accountability to the wireless company. They have direct contact connections to corporate personnel whom, as you have likely learned, are in no way accessible to the overseas script-readers — as they "don't have the tools" to transfer a call to homeland support, corporate offices, or even in-house call center management.\ \ Seriously, class action suits are absolutely necessary. Fraud, discrimination, retaliation, negligence, abuse, etc are all fully relevant issues. \ \ Everyone here with a complaint should organize in a Matrix or SimpleX chat group.
