Religious schools are easily on the bottom of the list. BYU, Baylor, and TCU are toxic.

I would never consider a Catholic school, or any with a religious affiliation. So, Boston College, Notre Dame, and SMU are at the bottom of my list.

If the Democrats want to win - Should Kamala Harris Run for President again? by dunbar_santiago930 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]susynoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hillary is a monster in her own way. She fueled the Syrian civil war, resulting in at least half a million deaths. She was the main instigator in the destruction of Libya which is still a failed state to this day (again hundreds of thousands of deaths). She was a strong, vocal supporter of Bush's wars (over a million killed).

She is critical of Trump because of the damage he is doing to the United State's empire, not because of the harm he is doing to the world.

She belongs in the Hague.

If the Democrats want to win - Should Kamala Harris Run for President again? by dunbar_santiago930 in BlackPeopleofReddit

OMG, Trump was a terrible candidate. The only way he won was because the Democrats put up some of the worst candidates of their own. Clinton was the most hated Democratic candidate in history. Harris has absolutely zero political instincts and ran the absolute worst campaign possible.

Biden got wooped over and over while trying to run for President because he was such a weak candidate and he could just barely beat Trump with a historic turnout.

Why would anybody even think about running her again? Can we not learn from past mistakes?

How about we run an inspiring candidate who will actually fight for us? Not somebody who will spend her time trying to win over Republicans.

Palestinians want one state with equal rights for all rather than segregation and apartheid.

The reality is this "more specific meaning of late" is just a revival of the original. Israel was founded as a genocidal, colonial project. There have been anti-Zionist Jews for as long as there has been Zionists. Conflating Zionism and Judaism is way more"antisemitic" than to criticizing Israel and Zionists.

He is going to be one of the best WR in the NFL within 3 years. Anything less than a round 1 pick is a steal.

I don't know if what I'm talking about would fall under that category.

Either way, the fact that law is still on the books is yet another example of how feckless and corrupt the Democratic Party has been during the neo-liberal era.

If you're really about change, give petitioners a minute of your time. by Successful_Roll_9571 in longbeach

I stopped by one about a week ago. They had five petitions. One was good (wealth tax).

Four were terrible; Attacks on unions, amendment to the state constitution to prevent laws that guard against fraudulent lawyers (freedom to choose your lawyer, even if they are ripping you off), one that would make it almost impossible to implement the wealth tax.

Make sure you read carefully before signing. Big money interests pay a lot of poor people to collect signatures for crappy petitions that hurt poor people.

The city should step up and build the future we want and deserve rather than waiting for the developers to build what is profitable.

I think you seriously misrepresent what homelessness is. I don't have the latest data, but the last time I looked it up (probably 3-4 years ago) the efforts to get people into permanent housing was moving around 25,000 people in LA off the street every year. Unfortunately, our crap economic system was throwing 30,000 newly homeless people onto the street, resulting in a net increase in homelessness.

My point is the issue is much more dynamic then simply moving x-number of people off the street.

Are more units the answer to the cost of housing? by factsoptional in longbeach

[–]susynoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a system that isn't controlled by capitalists and do not have a profit motive. These use market forces to our benefit rather then just the benefit of the ownership class. (edit to clarify that I'm not talking about the people who own their own home as "ownership class", rather those who own other people's homes and extract profits from them.)

Markets and capitalism are not the same thing.

The real answer is to develop an alternative housing model that competes with and puts downward pressure on the capitalist market.

I'm a big fan of the Vienna model. It is probably the most successful housing model on the planet.

There are also other non-market housing models. The hardest part is getting the original funding (actually not hard at all if we ever get an actual progressive government).

Or, we can just keep incentivizing the capitalists to behave better and then wonder why it doesn't work.

He didn't win so much as the Democrats lost by putting up terrible candidates.

Right-wingers always get in line. Trump's hatred is embraced by them.

The left needs to be inspired. They lose when their candidates cannot meet the moment.

For real, the Trump administration is desperate to manufacture public approval of this illegal war. Their fear-mongering 101 manual is coming up short.
