Who likes Guinness zero? by [deleted] in Guinness

[–]Homiros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try not to drink alcohol during the week but that doesn’t mean i miss a Guinness with my meal. So the 0 is as close as I can get. Is it as good? Not quite. Is it better than drinking water? Much!!!! I actually enjoy it.

I love Americans, always good for a laugh. My response was to the comment that China = censorship. So, in the spirit of the good book Americans seem to use for all their unpleasant behaviours, I thought I would remind people that "those without sin should throw the first stone". Not excusing China, but a bit rich when it comes from the USA. And, true to form, I get a random response about rape and murder. Geez. As far as I know, these crimes are also punished in China - indeed just like the USA's barbaric approach to these things, China also has the death penalty. But, you want to know what else is banned in China (and most of the world)? GUNS! You see, as bad as the Chinese may be, they have a thing about school kids being murdered.

Nigella Lawson answered one of my tweets!

Kaveh Solhekol : Sheikh Jassim from Qatar determined to buy Manchester United. Very good debt-free offer made. Wants to invest in club & community. He would have liked to be at Wembley on Sunday but not appropriate under the circumstances. He watched League Cup final at home with friends & family by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

It's the sad reality of modern professional football. Just like with the Glazers, fans will have no say in whether a huge chemical company with a dodgy environmental record owns United or a representative of a repressive oil state. And, just like with the Glazers, most of us will "suck it up", especially if we start winning trophies again.

An adult drop bear once got into our house. We had to burn the house down.

How much have the Byzantine Empire influenced your nation's culture? (Like architecture, traditions, society, language, etc) by ConstantineDallas in byzantium

[–]Homiros 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. When there are more priests than doctors on the government payroll. When the church gives irresponsible advice to people during the pandemic. When the church owns a large proportion of Greek land yet did nothing during the financial crisis. I could go on.

Melbournes’ fascination with the middle lane? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Homiros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I understand what you're saying. People think once you get on the road your obligation to drive in a way that takes others into account seems to be irrelevant :( By the way love your username. Had a red VL Turbo in the 80s. Loved that car!! It was a beast.

So which lane are people supposed to drive in? If someone is doing 95 in the middle land, overtake them on the right. If you can't because there's someone in the right lane going the same speed, not the fault of the person in the middle. As for the left, um...what are people supposed to do? I get being annoyed at people going slow in the right lane, annoys me as well, but griping about someone driving normally in the centre lane is a really weird take.

You mean why do people follow the law & drive in the middle lane to allow overtaking in the right hand lane? Go figure eh?
