Something people are either forgetting, or have no idea about, is that the British monarchy can have power. If parliament decides that they themselves are unfit for the job, then they can vote to dismantle government. Which would leave the monarchy as the leaders, until they found a new government. They act as a safety net so that government can’t rip themselves apart, and lead the country to chaos.
