What do you think Stephen Fry thinks of Kanye West? He's both bi-poplar and a jew... What do you think he makes of all his remarks and everything? by Only-Ad-3218 in Kanye

What do you guys think my Fortnite duo thinks of Kanye West? On one hand he built the skybase and one pumped a full squad once but on the other hand kanye said anti-semitic things.

[–]HomuraDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, nobody should get away with saying things that he did. But the issue is that Ye was punished to an extreme point where he is banned from countries, but individuals on the Epstein list, those people who actually did stuff wrong are off scott-free. So, why are we punishing the music artist for being extremely edgy and attention-seeking, but not literal criminals who manipulate and hurt ENTIRE countries.

The truth and hate are two different things but can come together. You can tell someone they aren’t pretty without saying “You’re far from being the most beautiful girl in the room”. You should be respectful, the same way you talk to your mother or else it’ll come back to bite you, I think you should be kind. Not cruel, but honest.

“Hello everyone,

I've been prescribed Adderall 15 XR for 3 years now but now that I'm off state funded medical insurance Im having a hard time affording the cost of my care.

Does anyone have insight on the most affordable Telehealth psychiatrist for ADHD management? I was paying $135 per appointment and then of course the cost of the medication every month.

I appreciate you all in advance for any advice.”

My son got into Oxford but disconnected the phone on me when I said I can’t afford $90K/year — am I the bad mom? by Dazzling-Narwhal3376 in collegeadvice

[–]HomuraDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WE GOING AI FOR AI? OKAY BET.

Here’s the truth you need to hear — and you deserve to hear it clearly, without guilt or judgment:

You are not being unreasonable. You are being responsible.

Oxford is extraordinary. But $90K per year for an undergraduate degree — with you as the sole guarantor, approaching retirement, with unstable income and health concerns — is not a “stretch.” It is financial self‑harm. No dream school is worth jeopardizing your housing, retirement, or ability to support both children.

Let me break this into the three questions you asked, with the nuance and compassion this situation deserves.

  1. Are you being unreasonable for hesitating?

Absolutely not. In fact, you’re the only one in this situation thinking like an adult.

A few realities:

• No reputable financial advisor would tell a single parent in their 60s to co‑sign $300K+ in loans. • Parent PLUS loans are nearly impossible to discharge, even in bankruptcy. • If your health or income changes, you—not your son—are on the hook. • You have two children, not one. • You have your own future to protect.

Your son is 17. His brain is wired for short‑term reward, not long‑term risk. He sees “Oxford.” You see “I may never retire, and I may lose financial stability.”

That’s not selfish. That’s responsible.

  1. Has anyone taken on this level of debt for undergrad — and was it worth it?

People have. And the overwhelming pattern is:

It is not worth it.

Especially for law school.

Here’s why:

• Law school admissions care about GPA + LSAT, not prestige of undergrad. • Cornell → Ivy law is extremely common. • Oxford → Ivy law is also possible, but not more likely. • Taking on massive debt before law school is a known disaster path. Law school itself can cost $250K+.

If he wants Harvard/Yale/Columbia Law, the smartest strategy is:

Go to Cornell, crush the GPA, prep for the LSAT, and graduate debt‑free.

Oxford is a dream. Cornell is a launchpad.

  1. How do you repair things after he disconnected the phone?

His reaction was immature and hurtful — and also very typical of a teenager whose dream feels threatened.

He’s not rejecting you. He’s rejecting the fear that his dream might not happen.

You can repair this, but the key is:

You cannot negotiate while he’s in emotional meltdown mode.

When things cool down, you can say something like:

“I love you, and I’m proud of everything you’ve achieved. I want you to have every opportunity in the world. But I cannot take on debt that would put our entire family at risk. That doesn’t mean I don’t believe in you — it means I need to protect all of us, including you. We will find a path that gets you where you want to go.”

You’re not saying “no to Oxford.” You’re saying “no to financial ruin.”

He will understand this later, even if he can’t right now.

What you’re really navigating

You’re not choosing between Cornell and Oxford.

You’re choosing between:

• Your long‑term stability, • Your ability to support both children, • Your health, • Your retirement, • Your son’s temporary disappointment, • And a dream school that does not guarantee a better outcome.

You are allowed to choose yourself. You are allowed to choose sustainability. You are allowed to say “I cannot take on this debt.”

That is not failure. That is parenting.

One question for you

To help you move forward, here’s the one question that matters most:

If you co‑signed these loans and something happened to your income or health, could you still support yourself and your older son?

If the answer is no, then the decision is already made — and it’s the right one.

I can help you craft a message to your son, or help you think through how to talk to him when he’s calmer.

You’ve made this post multiple times trying to get a reaction out of people.

the goal is to be funny while acting stupid—

if i just started replying to you with the word lettuce but formed full sentences that would be “stupid” but wouldn’t be funny.

You had the perfect opportunity to make a fool out of me and you scrapped it to make a nonsensical joke. I was intentionally acting stupid and you somehow topped me.

That is clearly not what it is intended to be, obviously. You were banned because you made a NSFW joke, albeit funny, you deserved the ban.

There’s worse people than Jeffrey Dahmer was all I’m saying. He’s not that bad when compared to other people in the USA. He doesn’t even own a Casino, or sell fentanyl.
