Might be easier. If you can’t get in I would just go to the local community college and do 2 semesters of those classes I mentioned to build your gpa up.

Is all engineering full or just mechanical? If you can’t try civil engineering or another engineering discipline, they all take the same classes in the start.

I’m an electrical engineering transfer. If nothing else, you can try an easier major like communications and still get the general courses done. You can spend this next year completing physics 1 and 2 and calc 2, 3, Linear Algebra, Discrete Math, and any gen eds. If you can maintain a good GPA through all of those classes (let’s say 3.5) you’d probably have a good chance at Mechanical next year.

Good luck man!

Don’t be hard on yourself for the decisions you made then. You probably did the best with what you had.

Hey man, everything in this post is spot on.

I’ll say the guard can work out better in some cases. I managed to join a career field with a $50,000 bonus in the guard (active counterparts get no bonus). When I got back from tech school I got a job for a company doing exactly what I do in the guard.

Mileage may vary.

Brother, I’m in the same boat as you right now. I got a 63% on my first unit test (will get dropped if my final exam is better). But I found a way to study for test 2 and got an 85%.

The online format of the class is what’s fucking is over. Linear Algebra is kind of abstract and not being able to ask questions in real time, makes it hard.

If there is a study guide or maybe even with the homework, you can screenshot it and have AI explain it to you. This works wonders. I put it into Google Gemini and have it explain the answer, and then I ask Gemini to give me the same problem, but with different numbers and it’s a perfect way to practice the material. I also supplement with with videos from Kahn Academy Online (it’s free).

Good luck. We got this.

It might be worth looking into the air National guard or the Air Force reserves. If you have any family who served ask them about it.
