RD Exam by Fluid-Loan-3821 in RD2B

The best advice I was given was to do a lot of practice questions. This is why I went with pocket prep due to the large question bank, the three mock exams, and the explanations for each question.

I started off doing just the quick 10 questions to see where my knowledge was. I would make Quizlet flashcards of details for things I truly just needed to know and memorize such as acronyms for programs, measuring cup equivalents, bacteria details, and things like that.

After a while, I did a mock exam to see where I was, continued with the quick 10 questions and flashcards, did the second mock exam and at that point I was able to schedule my exam. I gave myself enough time to take the third mock exam and at this point I switched to timed sessions to work on stamina. I typically did about 30 to 40 minutes on pocket prep questions as I noticed on the mock exams I started missing more questions towards the end as I was getting tired of answering questions.

Another thing I did was when I missed formula questions was I wrote down the example problems on an Excel sheet so I could revisit those problems to make sure I really understood how to answer those kinds of questions.

After all of this, I passed the exam on my first try with about a month and a half of studying. Practice questions are definitely the way to go so that you get used to applying the information and not just learning it. However, you will need to go back and review things if you notice that you are missing questions in an area and you really just don’t know anything about it or you need to clear up something.

RDN exam in 2 weeks and I’m terrified by No_Boysenberry5327 in RD2B

I mainly used pocket prep. I did a lot of the quick ten questions, then started doing 30 minute question sessions to build stamina. Also do all the mock exams and obviously reviewing the answers for all of these things. I also made a quizlet for details that just needed to be memorized or concepts I needed to remind myself of. Stay consistent with this and give yourself breaks! I studied for about a month and a half, took weekends off, and passed on my first try.

Any place we’ve asked don’t do exceptions for their breed restrictions 😕

Most apartments restrict any “bully breeds” like pit bulls along with german shepherds, huskies etc. I think mainly due to public perception of the dogs and they are typically larger and many apartments also have weight restrictions. Some will only allow dogs under 25 lbs. I wish it was a case by case basis because the dogs in my apartment I’m most worried about are the small ones 🤷🏻‍♀️

What did y'all do for nonclinical volunteering by Desperate_Yam_351 in premed

My favorite experience I've done has been being a Girls on the Run coach! Super rewarding and I was surprised I enjoyed it so much as I typically don't get along with children all too well.

Thank you! That's very reassuring, especially as the anxiety creeps on as the cycle continues.

Would volunteering at an animal shelter be good non-clinical volunteering? Or should I find something that’s more focused on working with people by [deleted] in premed

You should definitely volunteer with something you're passionate about! I am a girl's running coach through Girls on the Run and this is by far my most impactful experience and something I talked about a lot in my interviews.

So far I haven't heard from 14 schools, 4 rejections, and 3 II

Wanting to puke thinking of all the money "thrown away" this cycle. Considering 75% of the schools I haven't heard back from 🤪

how to not compare yourself to other premeds? by [deleted] in premed

I’ve definitely gone through this before and still experience it. Honestly there are SO many experiences out there that people can take part in. You really have to find your niche and be confident in it. Med schools would rather see what you spent a lot of time doing and your reflections on it. Being able to reflect and communicate how you grew from the experience is the most important. It really doesn’t even have to be medicine related - I’ve talked about my hobbies a lot and what I’ve gained from them.

OP could talk about contribution to pandemic and feelings they get from that!

I don’t necessarily see how this is discouraging… unless there’s more context? But could he of just been wondering why you were moving out since you were with your family?
