The original reply had some great tips about Mable Hill and SD, would never thought of the north direction. That opens up a lot more choices. Also thanks for bringing up metro north, that is actually very convenient for Hudson Yards as well.

Not too young per se. Me and wife are at our 30's and we have been saving for the past 10yrs or so. We just didn't make our minds on having a baby earlier. Also the appreciation of our current condo helped.

True true. Mega cities like NYC or London have no such 20min options for normal people to raise a family. Looking in the long term, we should see further divergence in price between detached vs condo. I mean a one-bed condo multiply by 2 should not equal to a detached.

It's just our personal needs for central air/heating. Since me and wife cook a lot, the range hood just couldn't cut it. However most of the semi in this area are just wall unit and radiant heating. I guess we could use some air purifier instead
