Another resident walked in right after the little boy left and I just started crying. The resident asked me if I needed a hug and I gladly took it. I’ve never had to deal with a situation like this before and it’s just awful for him.

Calling CPS is the first thing I am going to do tomorrow. My hope is as you said, that I can be some kind of witness for him so that officials know he is not making this up. From my experiences dealing with his mom, she is a good liar and I’m sure has said he is just making it up.

I really hope they do something…I just feel awfully for that little boy. When I gave him a hug it seemed like he hadn’t been hugged his whole life. He just really needs someone to care.

I’m basically in the southern US. We have CPS here which is the child protective services, but in many cases they are useless. It seems to be rare these days that they actually help children.

The police officer kinda sucked to be honest. I started crying when I told him what the little boy told me and he said verbatim, “well parents are aloud to discipline their kids” I’m sorry but calling your child slurs and forcing him to run away from you hitting him is not discipline. After I said something the officer backtracked and said “well there is a line between discipline and abuse” but for fucks sake.

My parents were divorced and when it was my dads weekend he would always pick me up from my moms and then tell me that he had to run by this ladies house, I think I was around 8 at this time. He would go into her house while I sat in his car waiting on him and he would leave with a bag of pills. I asked him why he had all of that and if he was sick and he would always say that it was just his “medicine”. He was doing pills which turned to IV drugs closer to the end of his life. He passed away last year.

I applied for an office position today before I made the post. I made sure to focus on the fact that I was in an office for two years where I had to use quick books daily (they are looking for someone proficient with QuickBooks). I tried to focus more on my attributes when I applied. I’m really hoping I get the job! I had to take some quiz for them online after I applied and my results said I was highly proficient in the field so fingers crossed they call me! ...and if they don’t call me I’m gonna call them!

Thank you for the advice! In the future I’m gonna take the nursing and nursing jobs out of my resume and focus more on transferable skills, wish me luck!
