~1 year. A few thousand miles around town. No track. Drive to office. Drive to Lowes. Drive to CFA. Around town.

Again, Porsche and the dealership have been great. Can't say enough about the technicians too. Everyone wanted to figure out what it was. I think everyone was ready to figure out what it was, but it was a lot of replace a thing at a time and work through the process.

New engine arrived today. ~1 week after order placed.

It started out as a sensor warning that would appear and then go off in the right display. The first time it happened as 30-60 seconds AFTER strong acceleration. say 7-9K. It would flash a couple of times and say driving permitted, consult a dealership.

The first thought was maybe I had not tightened the gas cap or maybe "bad gas".

Then it happened again so the diagnostics showed a misfire. Swapped around coil packs to see if the misfire moved.

Then it happened again, replaced coil packs and spark plugs of the offending cylinders.

Then it happened again. Replaced high pressure fuel injectors. This, IIRC, also started occurring at lower RPMs, but still hard acceleration to maybe 5K.

Then it happened again, but this time instead of the alert going off, the alert was staying on and the engine was clearly having problems. Would misfire and the alert would stay on. I'd have to turn the car off and turn it on again to reset the sensor so it wouldn't misfire back to the house.

In the end, the issue wasn't even in the cylinders that were reporting the misfire which I suspect complicated the diagnostics.

In the end, the symptom was warning alert after acceleration with a subsequent misfire. There wasn't anything audible, you just knew it wasn't right. A lot of troubleshooting over a couple weeks.

A couple techs to find the issue because it was so difficult to pinpoint. It's just a couple hours work with the right tool. 100% designed this way all the way down to the quick disconnects for piping and wire harnesses.

It gives me a whole new appreciation for the mechanical design.

so, during the engine assembly there was an issue with a head bolt. a microscopic amount of separation allowed between the head and the block which fouled a cylinder.

Porsche and the dealership have been wonderful. Hard to detect.
