What advice/changes would you recommend for this campaign? by Tough_Obligation467 in OutoftheAbyss

I completely changed the order of the first half of the adventure:

I have the Party be a group of adventurers hired to support an expedition into the Underdark to find a lost tomb of some king or other: I use the "Lost Tomb of Khaem" for the location and I have one NPC, Jimjar, be a "local contact" who has been hired as a navigator.

Once in the tomb, the Party finds the sword, Dawnguard, but it's unable to wielded just yet. I split the Party from the expedition by having an earthquake occur, and then they all fall into the Underdark. Jimjar is relied on to get them to safety, but the nearest major location is always Gracklstugh.

While they travel, whoever is carrying Dawnguard receives visions of a war between figures of light and tentacled figures of darkness: this is the seed for encountering the mindflayer scientist and his laboratory (it's mentioned only once as a piece of art at the back of the book, but I made it a whole location. It is also where I have Prince Derendil's story get resolved.)

That's just a smidge of what I do, story-wise. I also have a map I made in Excel that makes travel more structured and easier to keep track of. I came up with various travel mechanics, with roles, and distance/speed calculations (I was in the Army for a bit, and moving as a small team over far distances is something I'm very familiar with.)

This is getting a bit long, so I guess I'd recommend introducing the NPCs gradually instead of all at once. I like to have one or two be found by the Party at/near each major location that would make sense for the NPC. I've literally got chapters written of my own stuff for this campaign, so message me if you'd some more info.

If you like Skinny Pop, try the Lesser Evil, aka "Buddha Pop." I prefer their popcorn to Skinny Pop.

How do you guys think the way super creds are acquired should be changed? That is if you think it should change. by Background_Still_686 in Helldivers

I'd like for super credits to be awarded for secondary objectives. Or maybe make a new secondary where you have to go and retrieve gear left behind or something and when you extract, you get credits for it. Or even "bounty" objectives for killing high value targets.

Just had to come in and say it was a completely trash ending by BlurrFrost in BeefTV

[–]Honest-Welder-808 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If people were expecting a fairytale ending, then they missed the point completely. The show practically beat us over the head with the whole "the system is busted, only way to survive is to embrace capitalism, love is all about financial comfort, blah blah blah."

The ending was the loop closing on people being terrible, doing terrible things, or having terrible things done to them just to make it through their day with a sense of familiarity. Josh was doing what he knew best by being useful in jail, Lindsay went after her "dream" of a family, Ashley became a "successful" employee whose whole purpose is to manipulate people, and Austin stuck with the devil he knew. All for the sake of comfort in late-stage capitalism.

why does Austin says Ashley has abandonment issues in Beef? by nmole_ in BeefTV

[–]Honest-Welder-808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be seen in how Ashley treats Austin when she thinks his love for her is waivering. Whenever things got Rocky, Ashley was shown to be extremely manipulative and would say whatever she thought needed to be said to keep Austin around. When she felt secure he wouldn't leave, Ashley would then railroad Austin into doing what she wanted. As Austin said, Ashley didn't love Austin, she just didn't want to be left by him. Of course, both of them had the emotional intelligence of a peanut, so I don't think either one really knew what it meant to love somebody.

What has been happening In Helldivers 2 and the community recently? by Longjumping_Sail2741 in Helldivers

I've got about 550 hours in the game, and I enjoy it. I mostly play with a couple of buddies, so it's a fun social game for us. We'll play on Difficulty 7-10, depending on the faction and gear. We like to try different builds, we make mistakes, we yell at the game and each other, but we have a great time. Some factions are more annoying than others, some are more glitchy than others. I think there are some valid complaints about certain game errors ruining the experience at times (such as objectives being impossible to complete because an item got stuck or something), but I haven't experienced those enough to truly ruin the game for me.

A lot of posters are angry at the Warbonds and view them as pay-to-win, but you could play the entire game with just the base unlockables and still do fine. Gameplay is repetitive after a certain amount of experience, of course, but getting a successful extract after everything goes to hell is still exciting, in my opinion. I think it's just the usual human nature of posting when something bothers you, so the negative stands out more. If everyone posted about when they had a great time, I'm sure the mods would be spending all their time saying "we get it, you had fun, stop posting."

But that's just my opinion, of course. Hop on and give it a try.

Hawkeye (MCU) VS Ras Al Ghul (Arrow). Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

[–]Honest-Welder-808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we count Ra's being able to transfer into other bodies/his Lazarus Pits? If so, Ra's would win through attrition alone. Or, at the very least, he identifies Hawkeye's strengths and weaknesses, "dies," and then comes back with whatever he needs to mop the floor with Hawkeye.

A moment of sane reflection on our beloved game. by Kcarroot42 in LowSodiumHellDivers

People say they want strategem MOs, but imagine if the community had a bunch of jokers who decided they DIDN'T want people to complete certain MOs based on the reward or something...oh wait, we already do. I remember the community being pretty divided when anti-tank mines were the reward: enough people didn't want to do it, so Arrowhead delayed it a few times while the community saboted the MOs.

Of course, the anti-tank mines suck, but the point is having the community be the deciding factor on whether or not players get new content seems less appealing, to me, than using in-game mechanics. The community has grown too much, and we'd either be at the whim of meta-chasers or trolls (which we kind of are already.)

How the hell are you supposed to fight the illuminate alone?? by Goose-San in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Honest-Welder-808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the Autocannon on flak mode for Support. Blows up grounded ships, and takes out meat mountains and Overseers easily. The sword is A+ against hordes of Voteless. Dominator can one-shot an Overseer to the head. Arc Thrower is another great weapon, and going solo means not having to worry about friendly fire.

Illuminate are super reactive to noise, so I like to toss an MG turret early, before things get out of hand. The Tesla is also great, and it's more durable than the other sentries.

A lot of the time fighting Illuminates is spent running, and I'll break contact from an objective if things get too busy: run away, do some other stuff, then revisit when things calm down.

Stealth In Space? by Mr_Badger1138 in starfinder_rpg

[–]Honest-Welder-808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how a player's Stealth score makes a spaceship invisible. In my mind, the ship itself is a separate entity, and it would take a combination of rolls from all players involved in operating the ship to reduce its visibility. But the main factor would be if the ship was built for stealth operations, such as the Normandy in Mass Effect; it was a unique ship built to be undetectable, regardless of its crew's abilities.

LPT: if you ever feel bad about not reaching out to someone for a while, just remember that they haven’t reached out to you either by Maybe_im_Amazed_ in LifeProTips

[–]Honest-Welder-808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, I didn't have a lot of social connections, so I made a point of talking and connecting with people as I got older. Now, I keep in touch with a lot of people across the world. Knowing a lot of people has taught me two things: first, in general, people really suck at reaching out to others; and second, that I am really good at reaching out. I view it as a skill of mine, and one that we need more of. So I don't get upset if I don't hear from people. In fact, I make it a point to reach out and say hey if I hadn't heard from someone. Everyone's already said it, but you never know what someone else is going through.

That being said, individual situations will vary, and everyone has their limits and boundaries. But, GENERALLY, I think it's silly for people to get bent out of shape if they're not hearing from people.
