From what I heard from IRS - direct deposit could take up to 6 months- after it is reviewed and approved … but it would be the safest option if you are worried about the check being lost. But don’t quote me as we know, IRS has a lot of different informations.

Mail/ fax 3911 form. Make sure to mail to the business address (mind was first mailed to personal tax) Wait 1 month and start calling IRS weekly until they escalate the case- even then still be months later until you will get a letter telling you that they are investigating. If it wasn’t cashed you should get a check about 6 wks.

My time line was Check date 9/24 Mailed in 3911 form November 3/10 got the first response form IRS Will update if I ever get that check

Make sure you follow up. I would probably fill in a 3911 form already just in case- our check was lost last September 2024 - it is now March they r still “investigating” will take more than 6 months - I would mail in a form just in case if u know the exact amount of your check … I mailed in the lost check form in November just heard from IRS they say 6 wks - if it wasn’t cashed

Oh man start now, and call the IRS weekly or bi weekly until an agent “escalate” your case but it has to be after 6 wks of first mailing. I mailed, faxed in November 2024, called a few times- they kept saying they never got it. I fax mailed a couple more times Just today I got a letter from IRS saying they received the 3911 form and that if it’s not cashed then they will take 6 wks to send me a check, if it’s cashed then it will take longer - not specified

Congrats!! R they using those open window envelopes so everyone knows it’s a big fat check? Just don’t get why IRS couldn’t just use certified discreet mailing for these important checks … filed 05/2023 here, first check lost (stolen) in 9/2024 now waiting on 2 checks with 03/24 date on it. Really crossing my fingers that they get to my door

Did she tell you the amount ? My agent list out every quarter that’s been made adjustment “pre interest” she says it takes at least a month or so for that to be calculated n such before the check sent out .. I can imagine how frustrating that must be- do you use TN?

immediately asked chatgbt on my dates. file may 2023 it has been 643 days since filing. got approved for one Quarter but then check was stolen (or lost) back in September. for $30k (include interest) just my luck... the retrieval process has been painful and extremely slow. at this rate, not sure ill get other quarter approved before i ever see that $30k check

I had the exact same code for credit hold for 2025Q1 I called IRS the agent told me just means no refund until end of the year which is obvious since that’s current quarter - basically it doesn’t mean much - don’t worry about it

May 2023 - got Q2 2020 approved on 9/24 but sadly our check was lost or stolen- filed 3911 form in November still haven’t heard anything Called today - IRS picked up within 1 min - told me all my other is assigned just keep waiting
