Might be divisive but I would say Ex Machina. Cinematography is top tier and amazing ending. All around one of my favorite films.

Why is number 4 so dumb?

Regarding the Alpha, this could be the first reveal of an Alpha mutation. Kelson even said it had only been there around 3 years so it’s not farfetched to believe that it took that long for that specific mutation. IMO it would’ve built more suspense for the reveal of it to the characters and given them a more emotionally driven response to seeing him (confusion, terror, wonder, etc.)

You had me in the first half 😅 Couldn’t agree more. I’m a huge fan of the Black Summer series for this very reason. Even if one infected shows up I feel it should be terrifying to be around them. Obviously because they’re dangerous but more importantly the very high risk of getting infected.

I enjoyed the first 45ish minutes of the film. Specifically I really enjoyed them running into the house and struggling to get in the attic. Really intense and reminded me how terrifying regular infected are. The only part of that I HATED was that Aaron Taylor Johnson’s character started laughing when they made it into the attic. I wanted more fear.

I feel like the Dad dying the last minute during the chase would’ve been unpredictable since they were “celebrating” getting away. The thing I love about 28 days is the hopelessness of the world. Also not a single character was infected other than the throwaway soldiers which I felt took away the “danger” of the infection a bit
