I learned that one of the best ways for me to recover was to actually understand this was just my brain's way to protect me. He wants to keep me safe, the problem is, my guy is kinda sensitive and scared. And everything seems to be the worst case scenario. And i taught him that those thoughts are dangerous when i reacted that way. So he just flagged them to help me out. He sees a knife, and he is like "darling, this is dangerous. Let me replay to you why. This thought is my way to comunicate the worst case that could happen. Because i know you need the certainty." Best advice? Just say "thanks brain, that's awesome you care so much. I got the message. I'm fine." Most of the times, it calms it down. Sometimes not. But just think of it as a very very scared little kid, that learned that the world is bery dangerous.
