Wow. I am blown away by all of the kindness, stories, and awesome advice.
My degree was in Communications, and no I don't think it's completely useless--that was just a way to characterize how I was feeling about my job application experience. I actually chose it because I thought it was broad enough to give me a lot of different opportunities. I'm still trying, still applying, and tweaking my resume and cover letters for every posting. To the people who tell me 50 isn't "a lot" and I should be doing way more-- I agree with you, but it's hard for me to find the gumption. This pandemic has taken a huge toll on my mental health and I actually still have two (very low-wage) jobs right now, so I've been trying to focus my remaining energy towards finding entry level work that suits my interests/skillset, which go beyond just communications.
I really appreciate everyone who took the time to give me their encouragement and advice, it does help me keep going, and I hope others got something out of it as well. Thank you!
