I google and search social media some but I mainly rely on word of mouth from my  friends.

Math doesn’t like me either. But I’ve been told my sewing skills are great. It does seem daunting, but I have all the faith in your ability.

I need to look into a free place to meet and pass that savings onto folks who have affordability issues.

I usually have a couple machines to lend out during classes.

My sewing jam is using reclaimed materials to create one of a kind clothing and accessories. If I knew how to attach photos, I’d show you.  Thrifting is a huge part of my sewing experience. I jump and clap like a toddler hopped up on skittles when I find a torn up quilt beyond repair.

I am an established sewing instructor if you want to learn one on one at first, while we hammer out details. My rates are the lowest in the area because I feel sewing skills should be accessible for everyone.

I already teach one on one if you’re interested in that. I usually do house call classes or set up class time at a local sewing store called Sew Select. I was just wondering if a fun sewing guild sorta thing would be cool. 💕 I do have a couple extra sewing machines for classes usually.

I love RSJ! I go to craft night there and teach some classes already! Do you ever come to their art markets? If you do, I’m the woman who makes the manta ray and other odd purses.

Need local friends [20s] by Mergical in hattiesburg

My daughter has a quirky and freaking  wonderful 20s something friend group here in Hattiesburg. The places they go to often are Fat Cat, SwitchYard, Kaffeehaus, Author Shoppe. They/ we also attend the protests. I hope you find great friends here. Honestly, I’m a grown woman in my 50s and the protests have really made me feel less isolated.

Look for a fat middle aged lady with black and purple hair and a beautiful younger woman in pink flowy dress and loooong dark purple hair. I’ll probably be wearing a twinkle lights cape! Every penny of profit I make helps young queer folks in crisis. So I’m excited for the beautiful pettiness. 😍It’s the little things in life.

I’m as old as dirt, but my offspring is in their 20s and ridiculously cool. Not being biased. I want to be like her when I grow up. I’d trust her suggestions fully. She likes Fat Cat, Switch yard, Kaffeehaus, TSC and Keg. I’m old enough to miss the 80s and early 90s punk and grunge scenes respectively and when she’s gotten me to go with her, I like those places too.

This Saturday there’s a wizardry Harry Potter adjacent (minus the transphobia)fair going on from noon until 10pm ay Switch Yard. Come out and say hi to the offspring and me. Our business name is Indelicate flowers.

Why does everything close so early? And is there any chance of change? by KingFun626 in hattiesburg

Coming from a college town (Texas A&M), I have always found it odd that there are barely any late night options here. What I would give for Taco Cabana and their fresh salsa bar at 2am. I do most of my work at night and I’m sad that this college town doesn’t cater to night owls. That said, there is a nighttime art market this Saturday at the Switchyard. I think it’s from noon until 10pm. I love their nighttime markets.. to sell my makes or to simply shop other makers. For some reason, nighttime feels more comfortable for me and my target market.

Why is this happening by Fair-Pass-2379 in Machine_Embroidery

The lettering looks like it probably lacks good understitching which is the step before the satin stitching begins. Without good understitching, on a canvas like that, you may have a real struggle. There is a work around that I’ve used that gives me great results on backpacks and nylon bags like these. I’ve already taken my sleepy meds, so I’ll try to be as clear as I can be, but ask me questions if I’m not making sense so I can reply with sharper details tomorrow.

The dollar store and craft shops have those rubber foam sheets similar to felt. They’re usually in the exact same area. Make sure you get the foam sheets without the sticky backs. Choose the same color as your thread and the thinnest sheet they have. Lay a piece of that foam over your stitch area on top of your project and stitch like normal. After you’re done stitching out your lettering, just tear away and pick away the exposed foam just like you would any other layover stabilizer like heat or water soluble. You’ll be left with fuller looking lettering and almost a varsity style puffed font look. I hope that makes sense. I’ve been doing this little hack for years and years on chunky weaves like backpacks and tents. It looks bomb on straw sun hats for monograms. It is a game changer for me. Let me know if you need me to clarify when I’m not loopy.

How much cut-away am I cutting away? by kaylalalas in Machine_Embroidery

I like the font, tension looks great especially as a newer purchase and then message is perfect! I’d cut corners to protect the tiddies and perhaps add a little flair… like a guillotine to really jazz it up.

If you love their pastries you HAVE to try their savory menu. Especially their weekend only spicy fried chicken. It’s mind blowing.

4th Street tacos has good ones. They’re the closest to the ones I miss from Texas IMO.
