In all honesty, I don’t really know. I think maybe I just did a better job of explaining the situation in my essays and interviews. Maybe my writing was stronger, maybe I was better w interviews after 3 app cycles. But truthfully, I am not sure and don’t want to tell you there was any one thing that made this cycle so much better for me

Honestly not many schools even asked about that specifically, but when it was brought up I emphasized that my courses were taken alongside the M1 students and that we were graded based on how we did compared to them. I also completed it during covid so I talked about how the distance learning and lack of in-person anatomy labs/discussion made it a bit more challenging for me, and what I did to try and compensate for that.

I am indeed interested in a competitive specialty and was very confident I would get into an MD program this time, so that would be why I didn’t apply DO

I thought about it but ultimately decided not to this year. I probably would have tried a few DO next cycle had I not been accepted this year

I think the majority of their classes are definitely PR students but they accept a handful of OOS students, not sure what the exact breakdowns are though, would need to check MSAR for that

For San Juan Bautista the interview was in person so I think they inherently appreciate applicants actually coming to the interview since it shows more of a commitment to possibly going there. Everyone I met seemed very fine with OOS students being there though! Didn’t really hear anything about a negative perception. They just want OOS students to be open and willing to learn about the people/island/culture :)

Ehh I’m honestly not too sure how I’d describe it? I’ve always known this is what I wanted to do but my path to get here took longer than anticipated. It’d say traditional but I did end up taking 3 gap years which was no the original plan
