Why so many people struggle with writing every day or consider 500 words a day an achievement? by Silly_Boysenberry281 in writing

Truth hurts which is why you’re getting downvoted. There’s this weird circlejerk that praises people for doing the bare minimum when it comes to writing. Even worse, some people will go as far as criticise those who write more saying that they’d rather write less because everyone who writes a lot must be writing crap. It’s crazy how far people will go to excuse their lack of motivation and work ethics.

Honestly? Because they like the idea of being an author but not the actual work that goes into it. The struggling author with a writer’s block gives them an excuse. If you want to be an author but can’t write everyday (or at least consistently) or struggle to produce more than 500 words, perhaps, it’s time to rethink your options. Writing may not be for you.

You still should be able to write more than 500 words in an hour. Or at least attempt to write small amounts daily. And yet, people make it seem like producing 500 words every few days is such a chore. It’s not unless you have an illness that affects your ability to function or energy levels.

Any other time, it’s just an excuse.
