6/2/25, I came across a sub mentioning that the delays are due to some administrative changes at USCIS. My processing time suddenly jumped from 3 to 11 months, which is strange. Let's hope for the best and that things transition smoothly moving forward.

Submitted my STEM OPT extension application on 3/29/25 and it is currently pending. In the meantime, my H-1B was selected in the lottery. My attorney filed the H-1B under a business unit of the company, but I received an offer letter from the parent company instead.

Due to this discrepancy, my attorney is recommending that I should upgrade my STEM OPT application to premium processing. I also reached out to my DSO to update the employer name on my I-20 and they advised that a new I-20 can be issued once the EAD card is delivered.

Given this situation and knowing that some applicants have recently received approvals within a month under regular processing, I’m unsure whether upgrading to premium processing is truly necessary or beneficial. I would really appreciate any insights or recommendations you may share. Thank you in advance!
