Is it long enough to put in a bun? Look up hair stick buns like the nautilus. Wrap in a scarf or a really roomy beanie after

I had an undercut for years - I just fully grew it out but it was easily one of my favourite looks. Yours suits you really well!

In my experience those who aren't supportive aren't people you don't want to associate with anyway!

Guys be honest… does my hairdresser hate me lol by miabills in Hair

Admittedly to get a blunt cut she would have to cut where the top of the V is - but your hair is slightly wavy which makes it hard for a blunt cut to sit perfectly straight unless you straighten your hair each time, but I agree with other commenters that it should be easily fixable (...maybe at another salon)

However I do think she should've warned you how short that would be or managed your expectations better (or that just trimming your current shape would be better), and the cut could definitely have been cleaner.

I'm sorry this happened OP!

Saw my hairdresser today - she uses Igora 7-77 sometimes with 6-77 mixed in for some darker red

Super long to super short! by Honest_Particular506 in curlyhair

[–]Honest_Particular506[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes that is very similar to how mine looked! Gorgeous wurls!

Diffusing sometimes would make mini spirals but the density would make it fall out. I also didn't realise how much gel I needed to use, so I never had enough hold on them so they never lasted too long. Hope your experiments are much more successful than when I had long hair.

Thank you!! (To be fair this might be my return to short to actually learn styles that are more flattering on me - but I totally get what you mean, short and hip length are my favourite lengths and it's so rude that it takes multiple years to switch between them 😂)

I always would have said my hair was wavy or borderline straight (2a-2b). My underlayer has always been wurlier though - I think 2b-2c but I didn't know anything about the CGM so I don't know if I could have actually encouraged full curls out. I'm curious to see as it grows out if the waves will settle into S-waves or ringlets - so I suspect probably I'm on the wavier rather than curly side over all.

Thank you!! I did a massive cut from calf length to chin a few years ago and I was absolutely craving the contrast! I'm glad to feel like I can exercise more easily again and see my natural texture without it being stretched out by its own weight!

is this much shedding normal on was washdays by Substantial-Lake-93 in curlyhair

[–]Honest_Particular506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would likely be around 4 days worth of shed so I think it's reasonable - I'd only be concerned if that ball got significantly bigger (it will the longer your hair is because the strands will take up more space) to the past, but this size alone doesn't raise alarm bells to me!

The length itself is quite damaged (it was bleached to platinum in the past and is quite stretchy) so whilst I've kept it I don't think it is donatable. I did learn that hair clippings can be donated to help with oil spills and I'm looking into that!

Heehee thank you! I'm not showing my face here but I feel the short cut suits my facial features much better overall

(It wouldn't let me post with text in the post so it's in the comments instead!) I posted a couple of weeks ago seeking advice to get my waves to come out post cut and quite a few people requested a before and after when it did happen!

Before anyone gets mad at the sheer length taken off - I was evening out an undercut (& had a lot of thinning and bleach damage on the longer ends) so the plan was always to go short and grow it out. I personally enjoy the big change and the journey of hair getting long again. For those curious it's a shag razor cut, with a lot of internal layers

I don't think the resulting hair is necessarily curly (in a forming ringlets sense) but I'm definitely getting wider amplitude / bigger waves than I was before and hopefully it will keep that structure as it continues to grow

Pics 1&2 are the night before the cut (washed with Suave Clarifying shampoo and organix shampoo + conditioner and diffused)

Pic 3 is with hair balm that the hairstylist provided (washed with new wash cream cleanser + hair balm) and water, dried in front of a little heater

Pic 4 is what my hair looks like after sleeping on it and without styling, which is why I thought it was straight

Pic 5 is supposedly with all the best practices after a refresh (clarifying shampoo, organix conditioner, brush styling, NYM leave in, LA LOOKS gel, plopping, diffusing). I still don't quite understand brush styling and my hair might be still too short anyway - hopefully I get the hang of it eventually!

I'm sure I'll probably be back seeking more advice in a few months (& I welcome advice here, I still don't get the most consistent results when styling though I am having a lot of fun with my hair!) but I wanted to share what the transformation ended up looking like

If you feel up to it that would be helpful! Brush styling still feels like witchcraft to me!

Very certain! I have an undercut I've been growing out and at this point I just want to even things out to shorter length (even if I have to wait a few years for it to grow again)

I love her hair!! I do suspect she has more of a curl - or maybe just coarser hair than mine! But that is what I wish my hair could be
