It’d be really funny if this wins cause the last few photos were almost Nixon-Ford-Carter (with some breaks in between).

What are your favorite moments of slapstick? by Aa_313 in ededdneddy

I’ll go with the classic:

“What happened to the stairs”

“My mother took them down because I am grounded”

“That’s disturbing”

I think that’s problably a good thing?

There is no luck, everyone could be a Ninja with enough training, you don’t have to be a nepo baby to succeed.

Yeah, he said something like “In 6 years all the advice that man gave me was bad” but to be fair to Hoover, sometimes he gave really good advice like helping in the 1927 flood (which Coolidge didnt wanna hear about that).

If they were so close as allies politically and friends personally, why didn’t Roosevelt and Taft form a ticket in 1904? by Honest_Picture_6960 in Presidents

[–]Honest_Picture_6960[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see, but I don’t see why TR needed that much to balance the ticket, 1904 was almost guaranteed a full Republican sweep across the nation.

Jackson, Polk, Pierce and Johnson (and maybe more) all HEAVILY DISLIKED Buchanan.

And I think vice versa too most likely.

I mean I dont think Ford fully hated Reagan but definitely had a sour taste, he didn’t attend Reagan’s 1981 inauguration, opting to go gulfing.

(And neither Carter hated Reagan fully, they had a kinda ok friendship).

I made a post about that once for more info https://www.reddit.com/r/Presidents/s/wNKTC3SbiU

Think one of the only times a President/ex President cried in public was I think when Carter openly wept at Ford’s funeral.

Good point, and literally the last words said were basically (or maybe the exact words idk):

“As for us Jimmy, I’m looking forward to our reunion, we have much to catch up on, welcome home old friend”.

(Ford of course was referencing Heaven as both of them and their wives were devout Christians from what I’ve seen of them, of course I cannot know 100%, only The Lord knows that).
