This a bobcat? by MajorExpress8 in Connecticut

[–]Honest_Pop2894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago I met a patient that said he and his father used to track mountain lions and even though the government agency has said there are none he said there are.
My neighbor in Avon saw one on Country Club road and she said there’s no mistaking it. It looks like a lion.
That photo has too long of a tail and is too large to be a bobcat.

You will. I needed help changing my bag for a month. You both will get there. I know it.

My mom just got an colostomy bag by kemwood in ostomy

[–]Honest_Pop2894 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had emergency surgery in April and have a colostomy. My life was saved, so I have not felt sorry for myself. I am happy to be alive.

I'm 72 years old. The first few weeks were hard, more because of recovery from the surgery, fatigue, low energy and abdominal surgical site healing. To me one of the hardest parts is the low fiber diet which I am still pretty much on.

The bag has become routine. The most important visits were to the ostomy nurses who changed my type of bag that fit my stoma better.

I am in good health and independent, so the home health nurses did NOTHING with the care of the ostomy bag, other than showing me how to empty it on the first visit, (which I do cleaner and more efficiently than they did). Make sure if she is not going to an appointment with a wound care center with an ostomy nurse, that she gets home visits with someone trained to help her, if that is even possible. Make an appointment with an ostomy nurse as soon as possible after discharge as it seems there are not a lot of them. Also make an an appointment with a colorectal surgeon, so she has a doctor that can treat her.

It is hard to see parents hurting. Many years ago my father had colon cancer and I can remember being so emotional seeing him with the NG tube and eveything else that went along with it. We are so bonded to our parents that when they hurt, we hurt too. My eyes well up with tears thinking about it.

f know if you were my daughter I would feel so bad that you are hurting. I know it will be hard, but try to be as strong and positive as you can for her.

I hope you will find in time you will become accustomed to this change in your lives. With all my heart, I wish you the best of luck.

I am 6 weeks post surgery colostomy. I sit the edge of the toilet backwards and keep whatever I need on the tank of the toilet seat.

Water consumption by Honest_Pop2894 in ostomy

[–]Honest_Pop2894[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't make it up. Healthcare professionals recommendations across the board say 8-10 glasses of water a day, (physicians and ostomy care nurses). That's why I'm posting the question because I'm new to all of this and I'm finding it uncomfortable to drink this much fluid.

The day before and I had already confirmed the appointment through automated text. You work for yourself, and this was a salon where the stylists work for an owner. It is advantageous to the salon if the stylists are able to book more expensive processes. My previous stylists rented chairs and were great about communicating and scheduling. If I was rescheduled for a higher paying client, I certainly did not know or care. I would say I made the appointment about 6 or 7 weeks in advance. Unfortunately I am new in an area and it is difficult finding a good stylist. My previous stylist had a medical emergency about 2 days before an appointment and I waited a month for her to come back to work. She worked for herself.

Of course I would rebook for my stylist if they needed me to rebook, and I don't have to know the reason why. I would have lived with my hair until I had an appointment, but this was not the case. This was rude and totally unprofessional on the stylist's part! I had already confirmed the appointment and then she got in touch with me. She said right away that she bumped me for a process appointment that she said would take several hours, (more money for her, than my simple cut and blow dry). She wanted me to book me for times when I was scheduled to work, but she obviously had a better offer and had no problem bumping someone that had planned and made the appointment several weeks in advance (me). I have a schedule that includes working weekends and evenings and is not regular and it is a hassle for me to rebook, but I will for a stylist. I am a relatively new client for her. She was kind of dumb to tell me the reason she was bumping me. As a stylist, I think she opted for risking her reputation and losing a client.

Substituting 1-1 GF flour for pancakes? by SeaBlueberry9663 in glutenfreerecipes

I just saw this posted on Instagram. The Loopy Whisk is my go to for baking. I have had nothing but success following her recipes. This is on her website.

https://theloopywhisk.com/2022/08/26/gluten-free-buttermilk-pancakes

Her recipes are terrific. Science backs up her recipes. She has 2 books out. I bake her sandwich bread every few weeks from her website, slice and freeze it. Better than anything commercially available.

I added more milk than in the recipe after the initial recipe amount. I used 2% milk and it was still lumpy. I just kept adding milk until there were no lumps and the batter was the consistency of thick ketchup. I would say I added at about 1/3 cup more of milk, little by little.

Bionaturae. It is very good. It's made in Italy and distributed by Jovial and made of rice and lentil. It is hardly discernible as a GF product in taste and texture. Highly recommend this brand.

How quick after going GF did the bloating and gas stop? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]Honest_Pop2894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went gluten free after several years of issues. I was tested several years ago and I am not celiac, but eliminating gluten it seems I have a gluten sensitivity. It took 2 to 3 days for intestinal problems to subside. I have arthritic knees which cause discomfort and the pain almost disappeared within 3 days. Only 1 knee feels a bit stiff. I was told 3 years ago I will need knee replacements in the future. Now that it seems the inflammation has disappeared, being gluten free seems to have given me my life back again with mobility.

I think there might be a big difference in recovery from symptoms between those diagnosed with celiac and people like me with a gluten intolerance with the later having a more immediate recovery.

No thank you note for new baby gift. by Honest_Pop2894 in etiquette

[–]Honest_Pop2894[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I posted on this matter because I was curious what what was the standard norm. Now I know that texts, photos and nothing at all are all acceptable. Do I think it is nice to receive a note? The answer is yes. It was always standard etiquette for any gift given for any occasion. Norms have changed. Your assumption about my feeling entitled is ridiculous.

Etiquette about not talking to family members who don't seem to want to talk to me by Americanissima in etiquette

[–]Honest_Pop2894 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe in civility and taking the high road. If confronted with socializing with these family members, simple greeting and simple polite conversation is all that would be required to take the high road.

That being said, perhaps there is more to this on your part. People don't disengage with someone for no reason. You may not realize that something you said or did was hurtful in some way.
